When Pippa first wrote about silver Labradors on The Labrador Site, some of our readers responded with really strong feelings about the potential controversy. And it's a topic that still causes some quite strong opinions on both sides when it comes up on social media.

There were all kinds of worries people raised, but one specific one was what the dilute gene might do to what were considered the traditional Labrador breeding lines.

However, it's just occurred to me that years later I have only once seen a silver Labrador in person. Do you think the fashion for them died out really quickly? That they weren't selected for because there wasn't a market for them? Or is this is just another area specific thing?

I'd love to know how many you've seen around, if any!

I saw one recently. It was quite young but already had skin issues. Hopefully it is a fad that will die out.

I've met a small handful in south east England, and one charcoal Lab (dilute black). I won't lie, I thought the charcoal Lab was beautiful!
