In the last 2 days, Harley has started hiding some of her food....yesterday it was a toothbrush (veg chew) and today a rice bone. The toothbrush was put in the garden and Harley went and pushed lots of grass on top of it, then after about an hour moved it to another part of the garden and again covered it with grass ::) this morning I gave her a rice bone and she took it outside for a bit, then brought it in, put it in the corner of the room near her toy box and moved her giant teddy to cover it ???
Any suggestions on why she is suddenly doing this??

Saving it for a rainy day ;D Cockers are well known for burying things and are known as "the undertaker dog" but I haven't heard it applied to a Lab yet!

Lilly used to do this with rawhide bones, or at least something similar.
She used to eat about half of it then bury the remains as you describe, either in the garden or under her bedding.
This was a bit of a nuisance as we only let her have them outside.
It meant that she went out, in all weathers, very regularly, to check it was still there. It was a real nuisance.
Now she just ets them in one sitting.

Perhaps she just isn't hungry, too hot and bothered, and just keeping it safe.

Years ago my parents had a Westie who hid biscuits around the house. When I visited, my spaniel had a great time sniffing them all out!

A lady I met in the woods the other day told me that an old lab of hers used to help "unpack" the shopping. By taking all the eggs individually out the egg box, and hiding them around the house. Under cushions, under sofas, in his bed, under his owner's duvet......
Not quite sure who was more mad ;D

My old lab would bury a rawhide bone if it was a big one and he'd had enough.

My cousins dog is really funny. He buries chews and toys if it's not his. At my aunties if he finds one of the other dogs toys he will trot off with it to bury it. He will keep looking back to check he's not being watched. If he thinks he's been seen he will go off in another direction until he's found a safe spot. Even then if he thinks he's been spotted he will dig it back up and move it. The whole process can take ages. ::)

Lol at some of your stories ;D
I guess it is quite normal then - Harley has dug up the rice bone, ate half of it, then buried it again ::) she did keep looking around to see if we were watching ;D
