Oh yes, that is one other thing......I know it is obvious, but ABSOLUTELY stop using any slug killer pellets if your boy is feasting on slugs and snails. Metaldehyde is no joke.
Thanks for the tips! Hopefully this won't last very long! Unfortunately I think this has turned in to a game for Mossy, as I try and retrieve the snail from her mouth so now she runs off sharpish. I don't give chase exactly, but I can tell she thinks it's fun to dart off with something she shouldn't have. She does the same with small stones which I am also trying to stop her gobbling! We haven't put a lead on her yet but I guess that may need to happen soon as she is allowed out from today.
Oh, our Bella is fascinated by snails. Slugs not so much but snails are too enticing to be left alone. I'm hoping she grows out of it on her own because with snails she won't come close enough to ask for her to leave it. She doesn't eat many of them, more chews the shells off and leaves the rest. But I'm sure she's eating one or two from time to time. We are having so much rain now so the population is exploding so I'm having to take bella out for her nightly toilets on a lead to keep her focused on going back inside instead of going on a dig around the garden.
Please don't anyone use slug/snail bait if you have a dog. The breeder of my first dog lost a dog to snail bait and it was hellish.
I hope you meant to say lungworm rather than ringworm With luck he will grow out of it, mine was fixated on stones, but soon grew out of the habit.
In my dog walking community 2 dogs ate snail pellets recently one died and the other only just survived because he is a huge mastiff lab cross.. I won't even have them on the property its just too much of a risk. Rory grew out of his snail fetish with some encouragment but is now fixated on plastics.
