    Ah, I thought it was nitrates that they claimed to remove which I can see would be possible. You're right Rachael, nitrogen is pretty inert and isn't going to bind to a lump of rock. Vinegar would also neutralise nitrates in the water before it is drunk I suppose.
    I presume that although there will be limits to the amount of nitrates allowed in drinking water, that there will be local variations so it may be more of a problem in some areas? We live in a fairly intense arable farming area so there will be a lot of nitrates leaching into our water supplies.
    Anyway, we just have a large area of grass - NOT a lawn - and Mira only pees on the drying green, so we don't really care that much :D
