As some of you will know David and I have worked hard to establish slack lead walking with Charlie and we think we've cracked it  It's strange though, when the crops were growing we found a very narrow track that we used to practice slack lead walking which meant Charlie could only walk behind us, now the crops have been harvested he still wants to do this even though there is masses of open space now. I have watched Grace walk him from behind, Charlie will weave around until he can place his nose between her legs and stays there ::) Is this strange? :-\ Grace and I walk him on a harness as he is a big strong boy and we are both petite, but David uses a flat collar and lead with the same result. Thanks xx :)

Lol, I suspect it's just that this is how he's done it for a while so believes that is how you want him to walk??
I can imagine Charlie poking his head through Grace's legs ;D

Well done cracking the slack lead Helen. ;D

I've been teaching my two 'back' if they get what I consider too far ahead on lead in the hope that when we meet a trigger I can keep them back and so keep a slack lead.

Scout has started walking with his nose just behind my knee. Nice slack lead but I like to see what they are up to. ::)

The 'back' command is a good one and we have also used it and it's been successful in cracking this lead walking as Charlie knows where he should be but the 'knee kncking' and trying to stick his nose between our knees is funny and not great if you have shorts on and return covered in slobber ;D

We can both almost 'tick' that off on the list of successes :) x
