Jack and Barney are now 12 weeks old and full of beans! The change of food has worked wonders, not only for Barney's bald/itchy patches but they are both calmer now, not calm but they don't get quite so hyper as they did.

Yesterday my OH informed me he had just found them trying to escape from the secure (or so we thought!) patio area. We have 8' privet hedges down one side and the garage/storage buildings down the other. The weekend before we collected the pups my OH and son spent a day 'puppy proofing' the patio area, which is fenced/gated off from the big garden. They put chicken wire below the full stretch of hedges (11metres long). Yesterday, they had pulled it down at the top, and Barney was sat on it, holding it down while Jack climbed over it!!! Proper teamwork! Luckily, as our neighbours have a big playful dog, they had also put mesh up to stop him coming through to see the pups, so the result was jack was in the middle. There were some gaps further down where he could have got out so thankfully they hadn't pulled it down there.

We went off to the pet shop for yet more mesh, this time 1.2m tall, which is now on and covers underneath the hedges and the bottom half of them, with wooden stakes securing the top so they can't pull it down. Next payday we will be replacing the gate and fence panel next to the garage, as they have ripped strips off and that will, have chicken wire over it until then too. It was a bit rotten, and i guess we just got used to having older dogs who made no attempt to chew fences or escape through hedges lol

    Oh the joys of puppyhood!
