Hi, just a quick question! Maisie has a weeks course of antibiotics, but it is also time for her to have worming/flea treatment....do you think it's ok to give them with the antibiotics; I can't find any information anywhere!

Check with your vet, but personally I would hold off until after the course of antibiotics.

I never give Charlie worm or flea to tick treatment if he is having other things - I reckon a week or so late is better (my vet agrees with this too).

Interestingly, I was on the phone to my vets this morning.
Lilly's annual vacs are due 1st Sept, but taking her in today about a skin thing (a grumbling one - think its a histiocytoma, been putting it off for a while) and coz Daisy Bunny is due her Myxi vaccs.
I asked the receptionist if she could maybe get her vaccs early and she said "depends if the vet gives something for the skin"
I would guess their advice might be no to the a/b's and wormers.
Won't do any harm to delay it a week in my opinion. They aren't suddenly going to work one day but not the next.

Hoping Lilly will be alright at the Vets Jacqui xx

I posed the same question to our Vet re the Advocate as Millie is still on steroids, but they say its fine to treat her , i guess it depends on what the other mediaction is , and we have to treat them both because I found a flea on Millie this morning , whole house has been blitzed, bedding washed, beds zapped and outside, pesky little blighters

They'll be thinking about steroids or ciclosporin which interfere with the vaccine in theory. Having said that I've checked post-vaccine titres in a few dogs on chronic steroids or ciclosporin and they've all reacted just fine but if you don't have to go against data sheet recommendations it's better not to.

Thanks Lochan - they didn't give me anything for it, but I have opted to have it removed next week since it has been on and off for around a year. I wouldn't want to get to the stage where the it was too large for skin coverage to be compromised. It really looks like a little bald patch that could so easily have been a small bite, which now and again scabs over. I guess we are at the stage of lets just remove it and have done with it, and find out if its a histiocytoma, a simple granuloma or whatever.

Both bunny and pooch all fit and fine.
    Both got their annual vaccs.
    AND have some Bravecto ;D
Also found out local preference is back to Drontal for the worms (not much lungworm up here, only a few cases and mostly on the west coast of Scotland). We seem to be quite protected in Fife - we were clear of the Foot and Mouth years back too.

Back to the antibiotic and wormer question - antibiotics can make you a bit loose, so that might affect absorption of the wormers too.
