Hi everyone just wondered if you could let me know what you think.
My 10 month old choccy lab seems to lay about and sleep quite a bit.
    Is this normal?
We go out for a good walk and socialise 1-2 times a day, but inbetween that he doesn't tend to do much.
He'll go and have a mooch round the garden and play with a few toys but not really for long. Then he will lay outside and sleepor fine and find one of us to have a fuss and a bit of a play. And then back to relaxing.
It's this normal, am I worrying about nothing.
We had him castrated 4 weeks ago and he did really well post wise.
Thank you for your time :-[

    Hi there,

Lovely to see you on the forum....a few members with more active 10 month olds ( there seem to be a few at the moment) will say you should be grateful for what you have!
It's really hard to say because all our dogs are so different,my dog is energetic, curious, interested and alert....if there is something going on in the house or he's going out for his walk..but if there isn't he snoozes the day away....
He's doing just that next to me now,we've had a good walk this morning,2 little training sessions and a visitor.
Would you say you've noticed a change in your boys behaviour or has he always been quite chilled out?Dexter neuter op didn't change his personality or activity levels one bit.
Here's a thread David started last week that may help you see what goes on during the day with some of the other members

Thank you for your reply and the link, it's put my mind a bit more at ease.
I think it is just him, I think it's been so long since we had a puppy I just thought he would be into everything and I'd be tearing my hair out lol.
He's probably a little more sleepy today than usual as he went to work with my husband yesterday and gets lots more attention there.
We have been talking about getting him a little friend, would have to be smaller than Ben though, he is just huge.
I think also if he was bored the surely be would be destroying the house, and he isn't.
He just looks at me sometimes with his big droopy eyes, andiI just sorry.
And when we are out its a different story he just doesn't stop!!!!
    Thank you again :)

I wouldnt worry , my three year old Lab Sam has always been a lazy bones, even as a puppy , he loves his training sessions and the long walks he gets but apart from this, he snoozes his day away too ;)

Harley has just turned 1 and is a lazy bum too. She rarely gets out of bed until 10/11am. When I go to work I wake her up, she goes outside for a wee etc then gets onto her bed in the kitchen and sleeps til I come home and lunchtime - we do a bit of training then have lunch. She goes back to sleep in the afternoon if I'm at work or home and comes to life around 5pm for a few hours - this is when we go for a walk, do some more training, everyone else comes home. She settles down around 10pm.
Be thankful that you have a chilled out pup ;)

Our current Lab, Holly, is a livewire. Her predecessor, Cocoa, was the most chilled-out Lab I've ever known. Sleep was punctuated only by meals, leisurely walks, and necessary trips to the garden. She snored more often than she barked. A busy day for her was having to get out of bed so we could hoover. Playing fetch? Its a mugs game! You threw it, you go and get it!

It sounds like you've got a very relaxed Lab. Make the most of it.

Thank you, I love hearing these stories :) and they are certainly making me feel happier with how Ben is.
Sounds like I should be grateful he's so relaxed.
Having said that we go on holiday on Saturday with all my family, my brother has got Bens brothe. And he does not relax! ( think that also why I was worried) he doesn't stop and chews everything!!!
    :) :D 8)
