    Hi All,

Im following the Happy Puppy book but Im a little confused. She encourages us to take the puppy out and about to socialise but not to put him on the floor (which I understand the reasons why) But my question is, what happens when he needs to pee or poo. What do you do?

Also when I get him home (collecting my baby on Friday, am sssooo happy) can I start training him to go out into the garden to relieve himself or do I have to wait until after the second vac?

Any help really appreciated as I would like to start socialising him as she has suggested.

It's fine to put him down on the floor to go to the toilet when out and about, just make sure he's not coming in contact with other dogs or any dog faeces left lying around.

Your garden is ok for him to go out in too as you won't be having strange unknown dogs wandering around in your garden!

Old saying and still very true "the only stupid question is the unasked question".

Have a great time with your pup.

Always feel free to come and ask questions or have a moan. There are some very knowledgeable people on the forum and there are many, like me, who have been there and can sympathise.

I am still at the carrying phase with my pup, Gypsy. I don't put her down at all, when we go out we only go for 15 minutes and I make sure she has just 'been'. They won't wee while being carried :)

Gypsy is a Guide Dog Puppy and she isn't allowed down at all outside until 2 weeks after her 12 week vaccination. (I do walk her in shops etc but not outside).

Ah that's great thanks everyone. Just wanted to take him to a local coffee shop as they have a courtyard in the back but wanted to make sure he doesn't pee on their courtyard.
Am so scared of him getting ill and just thought he couldn't touch the floor but so as long as there's no other dog faeces or a regular dog spot it should be ok. I will check very carefully.

I can't stop staring at the pic I took when I chose him, he's so lovely x :*

Thanks everyone, still reading both books and the forum and making notes lol.
