Ok, past few days have been relaxful, Harley has cuddled up a lot, we have played some find the treat games, done some training - leave, wait etc, but........this afternoon she has tried (but failed) to have 2 hoolies in the garden!!! She has been more alert, buried a veg toothbrush in the garden, gone up the stairs the second I turned my back and jumped on the sofa!!! Arghhhhhh....... Just been to PAH and spent £32 (on top of the £40 on Monday!), brought a nylabone, some veg chews, rice bones, a squeaky pig (she picked it up off the display and wouldn't put it down!), some sausages, tripe chews etc etc Anyway, I know a few of you said by Friday.......but it's only Thursday! We have done 1 short lead walk (about 5 mins) and a short trip to PAH. Don't want to walk her too much, but not sure if I should do a few more short lead walks a day? We've got another check up at the vets tomorrow so will ask them too Thank you in advance x
Re: You all knew this was coming! I think several short lead walks would be ok - it's more the running and jumping you need to be careful of. If she doesn't pull and is happy to potter slowly at your side I can't see why she can't have a few throughout the day. At the kennels we used to take our post op dogs out three times a day for 5-10 minutes each time as long as they were sensible.
Re: You all knew this was coming! I agree , several shortish on lead walks is fine , looking back I took Millie for about three or four on lead walks a day , each about ten mins, then by day 6/7 she was having on lead walks for 20/30 mins . At day 10ish , she had her first off lead walk but it was down a bridle path with high hedges so it was like a tunnel and she couldnt scamper too hard
Re: You all knew this was coming! We did 5 minute lead walks for the first week then slowly increased them. We took her to places with lots of interesting smells so she'd want to spend time sniffing rather than running around.
Re: You all knew this was coming! I agree with Lauren it's more the running and jumping that can cause problems. A few short walks should be ok but I'd check with the vet. Glad she's causing trouble it means she's feeling better. well done Harley.
Re: You all knew this was coming! Yes. we knew it was coming, but it's great to hear that trouble has arrived
Re: You all knew this was coming! Thanks Will double check with the vet tomorrow about doing several short lead walks a day. It is great to see her back to normal
Re: You all knew this was coming! Ah I'm glad she's more herself....you sound well stocked up,for the ' Occupy Harley Campaign'!x
Re: You all knew this was coming! Harley sounds so much better.. Now that is going to be a challenge keeping her occupied!
Re: You all knew this was coming! Hi Naya. How is Harley's recovery going? Has she driven you up the wall yet
Re: You all knew this was coming! Hi Phil, Harley is definitely recovering!!!! She has attempted a few hoolies every day and is getting a little bit restless at home. She is having 3x15/20 mins walk a day now and is starting to slim out a bit She acts as though she isn't hurting at all ??? She keeps trying to run everywhere too! We are seeing the vet on Friday and hopefully will get the all clear to start being off lead - I'm going to slowly do the off lead over a period of 7-10 days til she's back to what she was doing before Thank you for asking x
Re: You all knew this was coming! That's good news. Fingers crossed that the vet gives the all clear.
