    hi everyone,
i found this site by chance, and im glad i did,
we have our adorable 5 month red lab girl, her name is meg,i was so desperate to get her home after picking our pup,the weeks went so slow,we got her homeand within a week i was saying o my goodness what have we done,it had been so long since we had a puppy,i thought i was prepared to,lol meg is doing well with her training, still pulls on the lead though, just cant seem to get her out of it,the only other major problem she has is her runny tummy, she was on wagg from the breeder, noticed she was quite loose,so we gradually changed her over to whainrights, this went well, then she started having really bad wind, not just now and again,it was like a fog,it was suggested to me to try her on chappie, this solved the wind problem, then hubby gave her treats, that has sent her bowel into overdrive over past two weeks,2 vet visits later, and have started her on arden grange sesitive today,is this a normal lab thing having dodgy tummys?sorry for the long winded post ::)

Hello from me and Molly, who is nearly a year old. She too had dreadful wind on Wainwrights and I also changed to Arden Grange sensitive - and pleased to say she has been fine on this. I'm also giving an occasional pro-biotic due to some bouts of sickness around 2 - 3 months ago. Hope Meg's tummy settles down now.

    Hi and welcome :)
I had the same problems with Harley (just 1 year old, red fox). Took a while, but ended up with her on Bob and Lush (internet based). We found out after several months of diarrhoea, bloody stools etc that she is wheat intollerant. We can't use most doggy treats - it took a while for us to learn what she could and couldn't have and we now stick to it.
As for the pulling......I've had this A LOT. I brought lists of harnesses, eventually found a dual harness (has D rings front and back), use a dual lead. It means if she pulls I can pull her the front lead towards me rather than the back only :)

Just wanted to say hello from me and Meg (a black girl 6 months). Great name choice. My Meg seems to have a good stomach and has had no problems even after mice and rabbits kindly left out by the cats. Pulling is pretty normal. Are you at a puppy class, we cover this ever week on way or another. Loose lead walking takes a long time to master. Can you post a picture? Emma :)

    Hi and welcome! :)

It's not that unusual to have tummy problems. Do you know what was in the treats that caused the upset?

Hello and welcome to the forum!
We also bounced around a bit with loose poops and changing food for the first few months. I would guess if you stuck with the Arden Grange sensitive for a couple of weeks things will settle.
    Good luck with Meg

hi,thank you for the warm welcome,
    whoopppeee,one normal poop this morning,lol
any time we gave meg anything different to her food would set her bowels into overdrive,so we stopped giving her treats, and just used her food as training treats, but hubby decided that because the chappie had made her poop semi normal,he would buy her some treats,(argh!!!!) it was a rice bone, chew stick, and some other small thing, poor meg, since then her stomach has been overly sensitive,we stopped the scrambled egg yesterday and started the new food,i cant believe the differance already, she is still scratching but not as much, hopefully this will settle in time to,we dont take meg to classes, just training her ourselves, and she is doing really well, but can be really head strong a lot of the time to,i wish i had found this site when we first got meg, there was times i thought i couldnt carry on,i am under no ellusion now that there is so much more to come with meg,now i have many people to let of steam to that are or have been in the same boat, will post pctures of meg when i figure out how to do,lol ::)

Hello, welcome from me and my two dogs :) :)

It is a cruel irony that Labs , who will eat just about anything, often have sensitive tummies ::)

Hi, warm welcome from me and my girl also called meg, yellow lab 14. I can remember when meg was a puppy we had a hard time finding the right food for her. We tried everything, Hill, Science (recommended by vet) and eventually the only thing she could tolerate was Pedigree. In the past she's had arden grange weight control cos she did get a little podgy but now she has fish4dogs salmon.
