Hello everyone, I just need some advice on a particular behavior my 4 month old lab puppy Gabby is exhibiting. When we go for a walk, she will sometimes just sit down in the middle of the road and not move. When I try to pull her, she pulls back really hard and does not want to budge! :( She also will not walk too far away from home and that may be because she is so young, but not sure. Does anyone have this problem also and are there any suggestions as to how to deal with this? Thank you!!

Yes. I had this problem when Molly was that age. I used to lure her with kibble. Lucily it didn't last for long.

Don't make her walk too much if she's stopping and sitting a lot. She might be saying that it's too much for her. Try shorter walks or off-lead gambols in safe places :)

I have the same problem with my two young pups. They stall walking away from home but try and run once we turn around and head back towards the house. I thought it might be separation anxiety or anxiety about new places. Maybe it's normal or at least semi normal...

I think it is due to apprehension of the big wide world; take it gently so that the pup realises there is nothing to fear. I am sure she will grow out of it.
