So the last few days Rio has been a bit ill. It all started after his vaccines last Wednesday. He had his jabs and was a bit sleepy as expected but on the Thursday, his stools were softer than usual and a few were quite runny. So I rang the vet and she said to put him on chicken and rice and I did and he didnt poo until I put a little of his normal kibble back in. When he pooed, his stool looked fine and I reintroduced him to his kibble. On Sunday however, his stools were runny again and one had a little bit of blood, so I phoned the vet she said that sometimes puppies get this because they are using their bowels a lot - back on chicken and rice we go and his stools became firmer and yesterday he vomited and it was the undigested chicken and rice :-\. Not sure if he has an allergy to grains ie the rice. Not sure whether to take him in to see the vet, though I have been in constant communication with them. The good thing is he seems his normal self and is still playing around. Any suggestions on what might be causing the upset? Thanks in advance.
Re: Poorly puppy Sorry to read that Rio has been poorly , I think if it were me , I would take him for a check up, for peace of mind really, hoping the little one feels better soon .
Re: Poorly puppy I had this for months when Harley was little. It worked out she was wheat intolerant. I changed her food several times until we found one that didn't make her poorly, and the problem has now gone away. I would take Rio for a check up and if you can, take a stool sample with you. Please let us know how he is over the next few days x
Re: Poorly puppy Hi Naya, What food is your pup on now? I was going to change Rio's food (from Purina Pro Plan to Acana regionals) anyway because I felt it wasnt filling and thought it might be the cause of his constant itching as well.
Re: Poorly puppy Harley is on Bob and Lush. You can only get it via their website, they are UK based, on the higher end of the cost spectrum, but in my opinion, so worth it. Harley has a mix of dry and wet food from them, but due to her recent operation is only eating wet at the minute.
