Well, you could knock me over with a feather!

There is a new Doggie day care place here in town, which is great, I had been thinking of contacting them to see if it might be a place to leave Simba occasionally when the need arises. Now I see that the owner is wanting to start a dog club, where people can meet together to do some training and have some fun. My ears immediately perked up, I emailed them to ask specifically about the club and the training methods, and she replied:
"The club will be laid back. Just a place for dog lovers focused on reward based training to get together and train together. To work through training issues, and towards goals ,both as individuals and as a group. I hope that with some work we will be able to put on some demo's at community events, to promote force free methods within the community, as I have noticed that the general mindset towards training in [our community] seems to still be very centred around dominance and painful methods."

    Well, sign me up!!! ;D

I have always wanted to do something like this with my pooches, but there just wasn't anything available. So, if the schedule works out for me in terms of when they are meeting, Simba and I just might be off to have some fun! ;D ;D
Not quite sure how this will work with my rather busy life, but, sheesh, can't look a gift horse in the mouth, so they say. She did also say that the time commitment would be once a week, and that people wouldn't necessarily have to be there every week, but of course the more you came the more you would get out of it.

Honestly, it's exactly what I need to keep me motivated and Simba having fun during the long winter months ahead.

Now to break it to the OH.... ::)

That sounds great! Just perfect. Some support working through the training, plus you and Simba get to meet like minded people (and dogs). Very pleased for you!

Yes, I am quite excited about this! When the organizer emailed back to me, she sounded so pleased that there was someone else who understood clicker training and positive rewards. So it will be great to be some kind of a support to her in this endeavour.

Will keep you all posted as this progresses, to be sure!
