You should be very proud of all your hard work and of Charlie, Helen. :D I would just say one thing, 300 m is an awfully long way out. Maybe try and recall him before he gets to those sort of distances. Just my opinion. :D

Thanks so much Heidrun that means a lot to us, we are very proud of Charlie :) 300 meters is a long way out I totally agree, but on a previous thread we discussed how the Pointer genes in him make him a bit more rangy than a Labrador or Spaniel and he can't focus until he has had this run also we hadn't been brave enough to recall him at that distance ::), but we had no option on Saturday as time was very short and we had to get him back and it worked :) We do lots of 10 - 20 meter recalls when he is mooching and all is working in open ground and the woods so far ::). Once he has stretched his legs we get obedience, on and off lead heel work, stop whistles etc. from him. Our aim is over time to reduce this distance with the mooching recalls and keep him closer, well Charlie closer anyway

Thank you so much everyone we actually can't believe that we have finally but not totally got there with Charlie boy, as always lots more work to do including being brave enough to start training the 'turn' whistle :-\ xxxx

Helen the good news keeps coming, and I am so pleased for you all. I hope you are making notes, maybe you should write a book on Recall for Absconders ;D
