Anyone else out there have a talkative pup? Edsel is very vocal anymore. Not just barking, which he does mostly when wanting to play and I'm working on toning that down. But he seems to have a wide range of grunts, growls, squeaks and various noises that he uses a lot. If he is tired and there is too much noise going on, he'll groan. If he is being told to lie down when he wants to beg for food he'll sort of half whine half growl. He seems to be directing these noises at people and during specific situations. I talk to him all the time and just wonder if this has in someway "trained" him to vocalize with people. Lori
Re: Lab language Yes, you can certainly encourage noise. My OH is terrible. If Charlie makes a noise when he yawns, OH will yawn back at him making the same noise! The result is Charlie has a range of sounds to rival a pod of whales! Thankfully only in the morning when he's still in bed. I've nearly come to blows over OH whining back at Charlie! :
Re: Lab language Barney barks when he's hungry, snores when hes sleeping (v loud!) and grumbles when he doesn't get his own way - it almost sounds like he's saying 'aaaaargh' like a stroppy toddler lol
Re: Lab language i talk to jasper a lot, the only time he makes noises is first thing in the morning when i am walking downstairs he yawns as if he is saying good morning he only barks if he hears someone at my back gate
Re: Lab language Lori, Edsel sounds exactly like Obi, who abhorrs a silence. He absolutely loves the sound of his own voice and assumes that everyone shares the fascination
