    Is sloppy (puppy) sitting a particularly Lab thing? Tatze still does it a lot at 17 months.
    Gypsy, 15 weeks (50% Lab 50% Golden Retriever) has never ever, not once, done a sloppy sit!

    Hah! The sloppy sit! ::)

    I have spent far too long on this. Charlie has always had a sloppy sit. So what? Well, the "so what" is the sit returning to normal is an indication that a cruiciate repair is complete - and there is a range of exercises to complete so a dog is comfortable in flexing the knee joint in a normal sit. So this has been a "thing" in Charlie's recovery. ie is it a Charlie thing, a lab thing, or an indication that something is not quite right with Charlie's leg (there are some opinions it can be an indication of hip dysplasia, but not necessarily - Charlie's hips are perfect).

    Charlie's spectacularly sloppy sit has now been examined by several vets, armed with x-rays of all of Charlie's joints, and their collective learned opinion is he is an idle young dog who can't be bothered to sit straight.

    If I have a ball in my hand, it's very different...

    Love the pic.

    I know it isn't considered right, but I love the sideways sit. I think it looks relaxed, happy and cute.

    Penny will do a perfect sit if she's begging for food, other than that it's as sloppy as you can get. In her case though I think it's part laziness but also partly down to her bad hips. It's the same when she lies down - more often than not she will lie on her side, or with her back legs to one side or straight out behind her. She is also hyper mobile in all of joints as well as the hip dysplasia.

    I think it varies from dog to dog though. She can do perfect if she feels like it but I think it's more uncomfortable for her.

    I think it is a big dog thing. Our old rottie used to do it but the little terriers didn't
