They've now raised over £1million which is incredible! Sadly the death toll currently stands at about 60 dogs I believe - apparently the buildings are too unsafe to go in and conduct an investigation yet so there may be more :(

I've just been in tears reading an article from Merseyside dogs Home...which is just down the road from my Parents.....you will know this Lauren but apparently rescue centres send dogs between them to raise their profile. Merseyside had sent 6 dogs down there the day before :'( it should have been 7 but they decided against sending one....and one of the 6 was rehomed on the day of the fire....bit the other 5 where lost.... :'( :'( :'( the sad facts just keep coming x

Yes, rescues move dogs between them for a number of reasons - sometimes to find a 'fresh' pool of adopters for a dog that's hard to rehome or getting constantly over looked, or for welfare reasons. In the latter case it would be for cases such as I had frequently at the second dogs home I worked at - an inner city centre with all the kennels in close proximity, a lot of noise and very stressful, we would aim to send some of the worst stressed dogs to centres in the countryside or with better behavioural facilities.

That is so sad! Those poor dogs and the staff at merseyside must be gutted too!

I think it is quite distressing that Dogs Today are posting up pictures of the lost dogs on Facebook :(

I unfollowed dogs today a long time ago - I do love the magazine but since the new editor took over the Facebook page is just spam - nothing useful on there anymore!

Yep - is a bit spammy, but only recently followed them so don't know there was a change.
