Well, I was at the dog park today, and there was a lovely fox red Lab there. A real, true to life Lab who looked so much like Poppy and Puzzle and all of your other lovely fox red girls....honestly this is the first time since I have adopted Simba that I've seen another lab that looks like all of your beautiful dogs. There doesn't seem to be many Labs around, we've met a couple chocolates, and a black, but they all seem to be more the thin, rangy type. He had a nice play with her (except for trying to hump :) and except for the fact that she was quite ball obsessed....but she also was a cuddler so I got to give her nice cuddles and tummy rubs. It actually gave me a little lump in the throat, to be honest, to see them together and think of how much fun he would have with your pooches. :'( I gave her lots of lovings and thought of all of your lovely pooches as I did so, so hopefully the Lambie Network will pass it along to them and they get a warm fuzzy feeling sometime today....
Re: Kinda bittersweet That's lovely! Glad he got to have a good play. Absolutely sure your cuddles will spread through the network.

Re: Kinda bittersweet Aw Lisa that's lovely Simba had a girlie to play with even if he did try to hump her ;D Maybe when another opportunity arises ask the owner would they like to meet up and then regular playtimes could be organised. Glad you all had such a great time x
Re: Kinda bittersweet That's really nice Lisa, it just sounds as though Simba just needs to learn a few manners around the ladies - they DO NOT appreciate random humping!!! I hope you meet up with them again. We had the opposite experience yesterday - there is a lovely, beautiful, bouncy and exuberant chocolate lab named Caddie (short for Cadbury, I guess!) who lives near us. Poppy can't stand him, because he is always soooooo over the top happy to see her ;D; but I have a very soft spot for him. Yesterday he saw us from about 100 meters away, ignored his owners, charged up to us, jumped up at OH (who was none too happy), and then tried to leap on Poppy, who zoomed away into the woods at high speed and didnt come out until his owners had panted up to us, full of apologies, and put him back on his lead... : I thought of how many times this happens to forum members, and was gracious. OH was icily polite, in an English sort of way, but I must say was a bit less than delighted to be jumped at by 40 kg of labrador...

Re: Kinda bittersweet That's really good to hear Lisa sounds like Simba had a great time Harley woke up at 9am, went and got Sid the Snake and came back to bed and has only just woke up.....think she received the cuddles
As the owner of a lovely, beautiful, bouncy and exuberant chocolate lab - thank you!
I did think he looks exactly like Charlie!! I know this couple work hard with Caddie; I often see the lady out with him, doing dummy practice, and I have to say that when he is working his concentration on his owner is much better. This was just one of those moments - they'd just got into the woods and had let him off his lead; he saw Poppy and thought 'WAYHAY!!! There's my best girl!!! ' - and just legged it to us. We on the other hand were at the end of a tiring three-hour hike, and were wanting beer and supper! When I know that people work at training their dogs, I am much more tolerant. It's the ones with the badly-behaved dogs who are in denial about their behaviour, that annoy me!!

Re: Kinda bittersweet Oh oh...sounds like the Lambies were having some fun and sending a bit of Simba your way along with a cuddle for Poppy Oops. Dexter looks so cute, Angela, thanks for the pic I do find it really odd that Labs are supposedly the most popular dog breed in the world but I hardly see any around here. There are a few chocolates, and a couple blacks, LOTS of LabX, but as I said, this was the first time I've seen any representative of the yellow side. And the first "proper" Lab in terms of looks, if you catch my drift. We get a LOT do Shitzus and other small dogs, I guess that makes sense in terms of the space issues. The guy that owned the foxy lady seemed nice, but a little aloof. Hopefully I see them again. I'll try to get a pic if I do. I wanted to get one yesterday but at first I was so delighted to see them together that I didn't think of it and then she got going on the ball again so didn't have an opportunity.
Re: Kinda bittersweet
Oh oh...sounds like the Lambies were having some fun and sending a bit of Simba your way along with a cuddle for Poppy Oops.
Wow - you're right Lisa. How did I not spot that?? And as soon as we got home, Poppy rushed over to her toy basket and brought us - HER LAMBIE!!! Coincidence?? You decide...
Re: Kinda bittersweet Anyway, I hope Simba gets more chances to play with other Labradors. And next time - don't forget the photos!
