Well almost On our evening walk we ran into a lady walking her black labrador bitch. Harvey introduced himself and they (Harv and the black lab, not Harv and the lady!) raced around for a short while. The lady said that she thought that Harvey was a gorgeous-looking dog and had we thought of breeding from him as she was sure that a couple of people that she knows would be very interested. Whilst feeling very flattered on Harv's behalf I said that we might consider it in the future - he is only 12 months old at present and so I thought he was a little too young. Funny thing is, there were no questions as to his temperament, obedience, gundog prowess etc. He's not just a pretty face you know! Anybody else's dog received this sort of invitation? Did you act on it?
Re: Indecent proposal Harv is very lovely. No, sadly, no-one who has ever met hooligan Charlie thinks he would make a good parent! ;D ;D ;D
Re: Indecent proposal Not with Sam , but someone did ask me if they could use their rough coated terrier as a stud for Millie She is spayed, but putting that aside , she has an undershot jaw , one ear up and one down , and now a bad eye to boot, not exactly breeding material : :
Re: Indecent proposal Aw Harvey, some girls go purely for looks ;D x When Hattie was about 2 years old I had two people approach me wanting puppies from Hattie as she is the whole package we promised the breeder we wouldn't breed from her and we didn't want to, but flattering to think people would like her offspring x
Re: Indecent proposal It's been suggested that Riley might make a good boyfriend but I'm not convinced. I love him to bits but I think ideally you'd look for a bolder dog and maybe a little bit bigger as he's definitely on the small side. Plus as we wouldn't use him more than a handful of times the cost of health tests would have to be considered too.
Re: Indecent proposal Yes, both my dogs have been asked by field triallers. Both castrated so couldn't! I don't think I would have done it anyway, would have meant me doing all the health tests before he could be used and then I have a feeling it spoils the dog once he has tasted the fruits ;D
Re: Indecent proposal I've been asked about Harley I wouldn't go down that route as it's not what I've ever wanted to do.
Re: Indecent proposal Now that is flattery Harvey. Don't go getting big ideas now. We've never been approached but when we had our old girl who was a rescue we thought she was collie/retriever cross. One day on holiday in Norwich we were approached by a man who asked if she was a true breed. No mate we said she's a mutt. Never thought anymore about it but one day I went on the internet and came across a breed called Scandinavian duck trolling retriever and it was Sheba to a T. Will never know if she was but wouldn't have parted with her anyway.
Re: Indecent proposal
Several different people have said they want a puppy from Poppy...
and so do you ;D ;D ;D
Re: Indecent proposal I haven't yet had anyone say that about my lab while walking her. She is fixed though. Her pups would be absolutely to die for cuteness wise if they look anything like her, Zelda!
Re: Indecent proposal The very first shoot I took Lady on I got two enquiries for pups if I ever bred from her! ;D Unfortunately, a) Lady is spayed, and b) she has ED so can't breed from her anyway.
