Molly, my Yellow girl, has a particular gait when she is running away with something she shouldn't have, makes me think of cartoon carachters This morning I was engaged in the loo when I heard her doing her 'special run' across the laminate flooring in the hall. As soon as I could (use your imagination) I burst out of the loo. I caught her sitting on our recently carpeted (light brown) stairs. At first I couldn't see what she had in her mouth. A careful peeling back of her lip revealed beetroot. Being unwilling for her to munch it on the stairs with attendant purple staining I urgently requested help from my husband (bellowed). He comes out of the dining room door and Molly dashes into the russet carpeted dining room. This is a great improvement, she can now run round and round the dining table to evade capture. Eventually, with a pincer movement, we corral her and she graciously consents to exchange the beetroot for kibble. "How did she get hold of that. They were at the back of the kitchen worktop" I am asked, by a husband who has a vested interest as he lovingly grew them. An anguished cry goes up from the kitchen "Have you had any of these beetroot?" Why would I, they are raw! "Well I picked 12 and there are only 8 there now". Look down. Dog is standing there with purple stains up her front legs. Bang to rights. Caught red handed
Re: Red handed Oh dear. That could have all sorts of implications on the other side of the equation, if you catch my drift... Simba snatched a beet root from out of the garden the other day, one I had just pulled from the ground. He played with it and tried to eat it, but eventually gave up. Guess it was too hard and not appetizing enough to bother with.
Re: Red handed LOLOLOLOL!!! Molly, you're priceless. Who was it that had a puppy that was so hungry it was eating beetroot out of the garden because the dog sitter totally misunderstood the instructions for how much kibble to give....?

Mira has a triumphant, head held high trot when she has acquired something forbidden ;D When I was a kid, one day our black lab (who never took anything from the compost heap before or after!) discovered a huge pile of beetroot peelings and decided to munch the lot!! She refused to come into the house that night and it was decided she was better out there anyway : It had all come out one end or the other by the next morning ;D
