Sam is usually a good boy , walking on a lose lead most of the time , in fact I can have both of them on leads in one hand with little tension . We tend to do a mix when walking, sometimes off lead and every so often an on lead walk to keep the training up to scratch but this morning was a nightmare . They both pulled but Sam was by far the worst I have experienced for some time , he was a shocker, so bad that I turned round and came home as I was getting " those " looks from people in the village : : My daughter is moving house from nearby Looe to live just over the road from me , she moves in just over one weeks time and our house currently resembles a furniture and box warehouse , I wonder if this is enough to unsettle Sam ? He is an ultra sensitive lad , always has been, seeming to pick up on my moods and hating changes to routine , I cant think of any other reason for his behaviour this morning other than an objection to what is going on around him .Just wondering is its worth reinforcing his lead work which is usually good, or not worry too much until the chaos is over ? xx
Re: All gone to pot Morning Katie, I don't know! Maybe YOU are feeling stressed or anxious and the dogs are picking up on it. I wish I had enough experience to help properly. It might just have been a one off too.
Re: All gone to pot Oh dear, so unlike Sam. Nothing wrong with a bit of focused heelwork as a reminder but likewise I wouldn't worry about it if it's just one walk. Have a cuppa and try again later x *and ignore those silly people!
Re: All gone to pot You never know what enticing scent was in the air! My German Pointers used to be really good in the summer and I was lulled into a false sense of security; Autumn would come, the scent of game birds and they were off into hunting mode. It could be due to the upheaval but I wouldn't let it become a habit

Re: All gone to pot Thinking about it, this was at school time this morning , Sam adores children so maybe this was the reason, not the smell of game, but the smell of children :
Re: All gone to pot Ah Kate, bet you were surprised.Sam and Millie are really good dogs....whatever it's been I'm sure it was just a blip and by coming home you didn't let it carry on.You'll be busy next week when it's moving in day and then things will settle down and Sam and Millie can enjoy visiting their new neighbours x
Re: All gone to pot oh that is not like sam, jasper adores children when i go out at school time he is super excited
Re: All gone to pot What's this I hear? Perfect Sam not being quite the perfect dog?? It's probably just a one-off, but I expect a bit more reinforcement of at-heel working wouldn't hurt..
