Hi our six month old is now due to work commitments having to be left in his crate for short periods of time. No problems in the past but suddenly he's started barking. We always leave a Kong and toys. Our eldest (child/adult!) is in the house but young person so not in picture but in house if you know what I mean.
Suggestions to help /stop the barking, have had radio on in the past, do we just need to persevere but worried about neighbours complaining
    Help !

If someone is in the house, this could be causing the problem if the pup is used to being out of his crate when you are home. He can probably hear someone moving around and smell that he's not alone.
I started off leaving Harley for 15 mins and built it up over 2 weeks to 2-3 hours at a time. If he is suddenly put in the crate and not used to being left there during the day, it might be a bit confusing to him.

Gradually building up is the way to go :) I also agree with Naya that the presence of a non-responsive person in the house might be a factor but you can't do much about that, I'm sure.

When you left your pup in the crate for the first time how long was it for?

Thanks for advice, we've built up time in the crate and has been fine before the maximum he's been in is 2 1/2 hours. I think we may have confused him as to give him more space we took his bed out (solid plastic bed which he sleeps in at night within his crate) thinking he could have more space to lie and stretch etc. Seems to have been fine today for 1 1/2 hours with bed in so maybe that was the problem. What do other people do about beds in crates? Thanks again T and C x
