I pick my pup up in 10 days! I cant wait. I'm kind of anxious too because we still dont know which pup is ours. I have to wait for the breeder to decide which one she is keeping and so far she hasnt been able to make up her mind! I hope she decides in the next day or 2 because if she does then we can visit this weekend and pick ours. I really wanted a boy and there is only 1 boy to choose from so if she doesnt take him its pretty cut & dry, but if she does, then there are 4 girls to choose from! How do you pick? I picked my last lab based on the fact that he was the chunkiest of the 3 black males that they had. He turned out to be a wonderful laid back lab. This time the breeder has mentioned one girl that is a "brat", one that is the mellowest of the 4, and thats it. She said she prefers the naughty puppies for herself! So I think the brat comment was affectionately made. I'm dying to ask if she has decided and what my picking order is (she originally said that there "might" be a boy if she doesnt keep him)...so I took that to mean that I have 1st dibs. I went out and bought a soft fleece blanket today for our new edition, and a slicker brush. I still need a dog bed!
Re: 10 days till puppy! o, the puppy will choose you!! my pup chose us..... i knew we wanted a boy... a black one... and there were 4 to choose from. so i held each one in turn... and each did the same thing - chew, wriggle, kiss, "put me down let me go play" - until i picked up the last one... he snuggled INTO my neck, sighed (SIGHED!!), and would not let me put him down - every time i tried, he'd dig his little nails into my shirt and pull himself back up to my neck, where he would burrow in again. so.... like i said... your puppy will choose you. separate the ones you are choosing from, and pick them up one by one, and see what happens. best of luck - no matter what, you will end up with a wonderful new companion!
