Would a second hand crate retain any smell of the previous occupant? We've been offered one by a friend but we weren't sure whether to accept it or not! We don't want any strange dog smells confusing or upsetting Bob. Is it better to buy something like this new? Or can you wipe over it with cleaning fluid?! Re: Second hand crate?! All of my puppies crates were used....I had no problem. He is 6 months old and is on his fourth crate so, if you can get a used one, it will save you muy $$$$!!!! in the long run.
Re: Second hand crate?! I use a second hand crate at work and have had no issues with it at all. The previous tennent also comes in from time to time for a visit and that's ok too. She'll have a sniff but as it's filled with Holly's bed and toys, she stays out.
Re: Second hand crate?! I would just make sure it's in a good condition - some of the stuff you see on the second hand websites can be awful and people think they can make a bit of money from it! If it's coming from a friend or someone you know then it's probably ok. Just make sure there's no damaged bits or rusty bits that could injure your pup.
