I'll be holding the pup on my lap (with a harness seat belt on) And what questions should I ask the breeder? I've already asked about mum and dad, seen certificates for hips and eyes, microchip certificate came today and the free 4 weeks KC pet insurance email came today. Sooooo clueless!

Take towels, old one if possible, for tiddle accidents and possible sickness , sorry : : Be prepared that she may be scared, its often a pups first trip in a car so she may be frightened , lots of luck ! Oh yes, if she is a pedigree puppy , you need the pedigree and the letter of transfer of ownership which you send to the KC so that she is then registered as yours , have fun x

Re: What do I take tomorrow? Okay - should there be a record of worming kind of like the vaccination record ( which i'll also get i assume? ) I think she said they send you away with a small bag but we already got a bulk bag in when we were at pets at home

Re: What do I take tomorrow? Okay Also - does anyone think it's proper nuts to take the breeder a small bunch of flowers to say thank you? She's sent me pictures every week and a detailed update, been awake with the pups for 8 weeks etc etc. My OH thinks i'm crazy, i think it's sweet.

I think flowers are nice As to the worming record I didn't get a written out one but I did ask and made a note of the last date wormed, number of times wormed and what brand wormer was used. My pup is 9 weeks and hasn't been vaccinated yet, he'll get done at 10 and 12 weeks. I believe an earlier vaccination can prove ineffective dues to the anti bodies from the mother still being present.

We followed Pippa's recommendation from her book to put newspaper down in the passenger footwell with a towel on top so that if pup needs to go to the toilet on way home that it isnt a big deal going in the footwell. Plus we also took baby wipes to clean up any possible sick. We took Amber, our now 9.5 week old puppy, home just over a week ago and she cried for the first 10 minutes, then went to the footwell, had a wee and was quiet for the rest of the journey! She did also throw up a small amount when we were literally 5 minutes from home after a 2h30 journey, so was pretty well behaved considering the long journey. However, the newspaper / towel and baby wipes suggestions seemed to help us. If your breeder has been nice enough to provide you with lots of photos etc during the first few weeks and lots of other info then chances are she will probably give you a sheet of paper or 2 with all info on such as worming dates and feeding guidelines etc, as thats what ours gave us. However if you have questions like that its probably best to write them down on a notepad before you get there as when you turn up it hard to concentrate on anything other the little bundle of fur you are about to take home! Only other questions that you could ask if how the pups have been socialised so far so that you know what experiences they have / haven't been exposed to, but am sure you can do all of this yourself as well when you get him / her. Re: What do I take tomorrow? It is a good idea to ask the breeder NOT to feed your pup just before pick up. Less goes down, less to come up! I think flower are a lovely idea. Enjoy your day.
Re: What do I take tomorrow? We also followed Pippa's advise from her book we put her in a small box with a few chewy toys to keep her distracted. I was going to hold her, but she seemed happier to be in the footwell. We took extra towels and wipes for any accidents and I prepared myself for a long journey. I was pleasantly surprised, she was only sick once. Your breeders sounds amazing, it can be very exciting picking up your puppy and easy to forget to ask questions. I made a long list of things to ask, but still ended up calling later that day to ask about things I had forgotten. The breeder we got our puppy from had the puppies on a feeding schedule so it maybe worth asking. Buying flowers for your breeder is a lovely idea. Enjoy your puppy. ;D Cheers Claire
Re: What do I take tomorrow? I had my father in law drive to pick up bouncer. I had pee pads & towelscovering the back seat. He sat on my lap all the way home without a wimper, no accidents or sickness. As soon as we got home he wee'd all over the place but I guess he new not to wee in the car. He wasnt bitey at the time so my hands survived. Wuldnt want to chance that length jeorney now that he has turned into gatorpup.

Our breeder gave us a full folder of info with feeding guides, medical history, kc info, training ideas and some basic puppy info. Was a great pack, even if I didn't agree with all training points. We also got a bag of food and a scent blanket. Sounds like you have all angles covered from the other comments. If it's a long journey, perhaps take some water and a small bowl for drinking.

Re: What do I take tomorrow? Don't forget the money or whatever form of payment you are doing. Have a good play before you start the journey and hopefully your pup will sleep. Make sure you know the feeding times your pup is used to. Very exciting - TAKE THE CAMERA!
