:-[ Delicate subject and not one I thought I'd need to address yet. Lemmy is nearly 11weeks now and doing really well house trained more or less sleeps through never a whimper a very content placid puppy, however last night his favorite toy got more than it bargained for! He was playing in lounge tossing toys around rolling over for belly rubs as usual when he (how to describe it?) Spooned Mr sheep vigorously chewing his ear and hips started thrusting! I must admit I found it very hard not to laugh and husbands chin was on floor as Lemmy could have put Miley Cirus to shame. He was only doing it for about twenty seconds and I distracted him with squeeky chicken which he seemed happy with just wondered is this normal in such young puppy and should I just distract him. We are wanting to get him "done" when he's old enough just need some advice at right response. Thank you.
Re: lemmy getting frisky! 100% normal and not just boy pups either Its nothing sexual at this age, just excitement and then best thing to do is to distract him as you did , rather than let it become a habit that may be hard to break , try not to laugh or he will automatically think its good behaviour that pleases you
Re: lemmy getting frisky! Yup spotted a few hip thrusts on my 10 week old the other night.....blimey it's funny!!!!!! Totally agree with Kate's advice, stifle the laughter and distract ;D Or video and post.....it's up to you LOL
Re: lemmy getting frisky! That's good know thanks. I thought that myself about laughing had to tell my son to leave room as he was in bits . He did look so comical though I'll distract if he does it again for poor Mr sheep's sake if nothing else! x
Re: lemmy getting frisky! Son not very helpful he recommended putting Barry white on instead of radio 2 overnight for him as Mr sheep goes in basket with Lemmy! Or maybe Lemmy living up to rock n roll name and will air guitar next lol .

It's hard not to laugh, Buster is just over 8 months and still does it now to his toy chicken when he first starting humping it was only brief but now he humps the chicken every night for about 20 mins, always after he has had his tea without fail, my hubby finds it hilarious to this day, i personally don't mind it as it is only the chicken that gets it.

Re: lemmy getting frisky! Glad this post came up. It only occurs with Sara when she's over excited and has has sunk her teeth into my arm. At least she's easily distracted.
Re: lemmy getting frisky! Harley only done it once with a large cushion when she was 12 weeks old. After laughing lots we did distract her and she never done it again

Re: lemmy getting frisky! Ok, easy. Don't invite the vicar round. Agree with the 'distract and redirect' advice, so he doesn't get to rehearse the behaviour. I find that with a Obi it's something he does when he's bored and looking for something to do and hasn't had enough to occupy him on that day - kind of redirected frustration. So making sure he's had enough interesting stuff in his day helps a lot. Obi also does it when he's excited, like right after his favourite Fijian delivery man drops round with a parcel, as happens on some mornings (just often enough to keep alive the hypervigilant "I must monitor the front gate for my delivery man" behaviour). That is super exciting as he just loves the delivery man. The cushion gets a lot of focused attention on these occasions. Note to self: put cushion in high place when delivery man is observed approaching front door.
