What times do you feed your dogs? Hollie is 8am-2pm-8pm She is normally asleep for the 2pm one and has to be woken up so I may push that back till 3 and see how she goes
Re: Just out of curiosity Harley is 14 months but due to her very sensitive tummy, still gets 3 meals a day. 8am, 1pm, 7pm.
Re: Just out of curiosity Obi is about 2.5. He gets brekkie at 7:30am (largest meal) and dinner at 5:30pm (small meal).
Re: Just out of curiosity Pongo has been on two meals since 10 weeks old: breakfast between about 7.30 - 8.00 dinner between about 6.30 - 7.00 He usually gets a few treats at lunchtime (scraps or an egg or similar) Pongo is watching me type this and wants me to say that he thinks it is all quite inadequate, he is being starved and needs at least six meals a day of twice the volume I'm giving him, and he is going to call PuppyLine.
Re: Just out of curiosity We collect Bob next Sunday, I've been told that he currently has 2 meals a day (CSJ Little Champ) so I guess we will stick with the food and routine with that until there is a reason to change anything. I'm thinking also that I'll be trying to do as much reward-based training as possible.. so he'll get some of his allocation spread out during the day too. Lou x
Re: Just out of curiosity 7am 1pm 7pm But we are moving to 7:30am and 7:30pm when Gypsy goes on two two meals as when she goes to school it's 8am and 8PM. 8am is too late for us as our first walk is 9am.
Re: Just out of curiosity Nellie is 5 1/2 months and still on 3 feeds, 7:30ish, 1pm & 7pm. She is raw fed. When she is 6 months we plan to slowly reduce her lunchtime meal down until we phase it out all together and then pull the meal times a little closer, maybe 8am & 6pm. Bless her, I'd hate to miss my lunch
Re: Just out of curiosity Does anyone not feed their dog to a strict schedule? Say, breakfast at 6am one day and 8am on another? What about shift workers, what do you do? Is there any benefit or detriment to a dog to shuffle it around a bit? As long as our pups get their allowance for the day and not too much at one go, I wonder if there's any benefit to feeding at the exact same time each day, other than the fact it may fit into our human schedules a bit better.
Re: Just out of curiosity Molly has a somewhat bizarre routine. Molly is just a year old. Kong when I get up, about 7.30. Followed by Kibble in Buster Cube or other toy. Kong at 9.30 when we eat breakfast. Though she will have scored bits of veg off my husband while he prepares breakfast. Lots of hand fed kibble throughout the day as we train, walk etc. Kong about 5.30 when I have my supper. We'll gloss over the veg she begs of me while I'm chopping them up. Walk, with more hand fed kibble. Another Kong about 7.00pm If there is any unfed kibble at the end of the day she has it in one of her treat toys. She gets very small amounts of chicken or frankfurter as training treats, probably less than 30 grams a day. She has 220 grams of James Wellbeloved Turkey Junior per day, which is actually less than the 240 grams of Royal Canin she came to us on. She was last weighed 6 months ago, prior to her spay. She has abundant energy. I cannot see her ribs, but can feel them if I go looking for them. She is from a working line, and thus naturally lean. I did query it with the vet who said she was just a petite Labrador. So I am fairly sure I am not under feeding her even though she has so little. Molly never eats from a bowl, and has to work for every mouthful which she thoroughly enjoys. Labs love their food so much it seems a shame for it to be over in just a few minutes.
Re: Just out of curiosity Fiona, I work 12 hour shifts, nights and days in the same week so would have to feed Hollie when I was at home. hubby is home all day as he is unable to work (otherwise we wouldn't have got her, day care doesn't cater for long shifts). I'm sure as long as the pup is getting what they need it will be ok.....but I may be totally wrong

Re: Just out of curiosity On a weekend, Harley rarely gets out of bed before 9.30am, so this does change her meal times. She doesn't seem to mind

Re: Just out of curiosity Work days we are around 7.15-7.30am after our morning walk. Weekends if we are being lazy might be 9am ish . If Soph is working it is up and out at 7.45 and an hour in the woods so possibly 9.30am for brekkie. Teatime 6.15 roughly but might be early as 4pm if we are going out, or as late as 8pm. She is always ready and waiting at 6.15 though.
