    Hullo - me again!!

Since Willow is starting to bite hands a little harder now, I thought it was probably a good idea to start bite inhibition training immediately, to try to "nip" it in the bud (sorry - I'm married to a Scouser and his over-use of bad puns is rubbing off on me!).

So, this morning during play, she got too hard with my hand twice. Each time, I let out a little squeal (not very loud) and she stopped immediately. I then fussed her for stopping.

    Does anyone have any advice/comments?

    Thanks!

If that works, great, keep it up :)

If it stops working try removing yourself from the situation and if that stops working then give her a brief (30 second) time out in another (safe room).

    The dreaded crockadogs
We find distraction works with a toy if he's not to excited but we've noticed he gets a ten min window of real fractiousness just before he needs a nap so I try and keep everything calm no playing I just potter about he'll take himself to bed if the snapdragon doesn't calm though to point of he's hanging off my jumper (think he has knitwear fetish and I do love a cardi) then its a time out in kitchen his bed is there if he wants to chill. I go and check him after five and if he's not asleep he'll come to me we have a low level stroke and he'll either trot around with me or go to sleep .

I followed Pippa's advice with both of them. It worked :)

Tatze was a total crocodile, Gypsy only bit too hard very occasionally. She is completely gentle now at 20 weeks and doesn't even mouth or lick. Tatze still gets licky sometimes at 18 months!

When they were tiny I picked them up and put a chew or toy in their mouth in place of my hands. As they grew I did the 'ouch' thing then, if they didn't stop the 'all play stops' thing.

I've been saying "gentle" at the same time as the scream. it's finally working after a couple of weeks. I also find it's helpful to wear a short sleeved shirt when playing with Sara. She always goes for the sleeve if it's right in front of her and she grabs it hard, very painful if she misses. Remember, when Willow lunges for your nose, she's not going to lick it. :(

Haha, she's already caught me out with that one! Bless her little cotton socks :)
