Hi all! I'm new to the forums. My husband and I were married back in May of this year, and just 3 weeks ago, we brought home our baby girl. Her name is Luna (hence my s/n). She's a gorgeous chocolate lab. She will be officially 10 weeks this Sunday. Yes, that means we brought her home at 7 weeks from a breeder. I keep hearing mixed things on this, but at least she was 7 weeks, and not any younger right?! :-\ Either way, we've had a pretty interesting time with her so far! Her first week was tough. First few days were great, and we had the "oh, she's so sweet, and cute," and then the "puppy blues" set in for a few days. We knew she would need lots of attention, but the amount of attention, and then lack of sleep on top of it....... we were both exhausted! All of that passed within a few days! I feel like all of us (including Luna) have adjusted very well to everything. We have already taught her how to sit, and we're so proud! She knows now that we won't put her food down for her at mealtimes until she sits for us. She's precious. She's a typical puppy. Wound up for maybe 30 minutes, and then just *knocked* out in her crate for an hour or so. Rinse and repeat.. and that's Luna all day. She's too funny. When we brought her home at 7 weeks she was going outside 3-4 times a night, (yikes!), but now she's sleeping for a good 5 hours straight (9:00pm-2am) until she needs to go outside. Her times are 2am and 5am. She's up for the day around 6:30am with me. We're taking her for her second combo vaccines on Sunday at the PetSmart/Banfield in our area. I'm excited for her to socialize/be in a place with other dogs, but I'm super paranoid about putting her on the floor (for germs to get on her and her paws, etc). Is that nuts? LOL. She's a little skiddish right now with super new experiences, so I'm hoping she will appreciate being higher up in our arms, or in the cart while we're going in and out of there. Enjoy some pictures! Looking forward to getting to know everyone! It's been a long time since my husband or I have raised a puppy. Luna is our first lab. My husband is a Huskie fan, and I'm a long time Golden Retriever owner. We're looking forward to this adventure!
Re: Saying "hello!" Mama of a 10 week old Chocolate Lab! (pics) Hi and welcome to the forum. You have a lovely puppy! She looks intelligent too or maybe mischievous ? You'll have great fun with her. Puppies are tiring, it was like having a baby in some ways. Mine will be 6 months old this weekend. It is the middle of the night here in the UK and I am only up because the cat spooked my pup which made her bark! She's never barked in the night before so I hope it's a one-off! Enjoy your puppy!
Re: Saying "hello!" Mama of a 10 week old Chocolate Lab! (pics) She's beautiful. We brought Sara home at 7 wks also. Other than the 3 or 4 times a night thing she's awesome. It was probably better for us. She played hard and slept a lot and her jaws weren"t strong enough to cause any real pain. She's almost 12 wks now and we have the wild dog we always dreamt of. I found it was very easy to get Sara used to her crate at that age. She loves it. I don't think you're being paranoid about not putting Luna down on the floor. At least you know she's safe, better for your piece of mind.

Re: Saying "hello!" Mama of a 10 week old Chocolate Lab! (pics) Thanks, everyone! We really picked the most beautiful pup! She's growing so fast. Every other day I get home from work, or from running some short errands, and I take her outside to potty, and I noticed that she's gotten BIGGER. I hate it! My husband is stoked about that, but I'm having a hard time with it! I feel like I haven't had enough "baby" time from her. I keep telling him we should have gotten two and/or we already need another baby! HAHA. She LOVES her crate! We have a crate attached to an x-pen for her set up in our large bathroom, so that's her "den" area. We put her down in that x-pen the day we brought her home, and she quickly discovered that the crate was a good hiding spot for her. It was a good spot for her when she was getting used to home. Now it's her private bed, and the x-pen is her independent/quiet play area. She's a dog, but she sure does like her time to herself to play on her own. She's fantastic. She has an exciting weekend coming up. We have 40 minutes drive or so to the PetSmart (we live in the county), so she has some car time to get through, then the vet, and then we're going to hang out in the store with her... get her some new toys, more food, etc. I will be sure to take more pics as she's already bigger than those pics!
