Hello everyone, I have just joined this amazing site, which I quite by chance stumbled across yesterday. I have two Labradors and a German Shepherd. Joseph is a black lab, aged seven, and I've had him for eight weeks now, as he came from a rescue home. He is an absolute darling, apart from being a bit of a devil for coming back when off the lead. I think he does have some heSring loss, but also some convenient deafness too! Once he gets on a scent...that's it, his gone! Bailey, is also a rescue lab, aged six, chocolate, and I've had him two weeks. He too is gorgeous, even if we have had three days of chewing! Joseph and Bailey are inseperable, they get on so well and are true partners in crime. Elsie is almost six, and is my feisty GS bitch, who rules the roost. Elsie and Bailey are still sorting out the pecking order, so the odd scuffle has occurred, but I'm sure this will soon be over....I hope! I've had a Labrador before, but still consider myself as having lots to learn about dogs. So, any advice and tips will always be most welcome. Best wishes to you all Kate
Re: Hello! Hi Katie and welcome to the forum! You are very brave to take on two rescues in two months. Looking forward to hear more about your gang.

Re: Hello! Hello Katie, and a warm welcome from me and Sam who is my black Lab, almost two years old . So brave and kind of you to give a home to two rescues , this forum is lovely, lots of excellent advice in a friendly way too
Re: Hello! Hi Katie, Welcome from me and Riley who's my lovely but slightly wayward 2 year old black lab. Barbara
Re: Hello! Good morning, everyone Thank you so much for your lovely messages; this is just such a fabulous forum. I'm not sure if I'm just plain mad or stupid to have two rescue labs in two months, but I just couldn't resist my boys, and so far so good! Bailey stood his ground with Elsie last night, a few growls and swipes, but no blood or injuries! Now, they seem to be getting on just fine. Pippa...thank you for the link to the recall training, much appreciated. Have a great day everyone
Re: Hello! Not mad or stupid, just smitten It sounds like you made the right decision and that you have a very lovely group of dogs there (and what's the odd growl/swipe between friends).
Re: Hello! hello and welcome to you and your lovely gang, and welcome from me and my two, Cuillin two in August, and Brodick the Pack Scamp, 15 months. Brodick also has very strong selective hearing skills. Particularly as we have Tadpoles in the pond up the hill just now. Ten minutes that little rascal was Tadpoling in the Pond for this lunchtime. The slooshing of his big paw on the water as he tried to swat them must have made my calls unhearable to a Labrador.... :
Re: Hello! Definitely smitten! There have been a few more growls and swipes, but Bailey is starting to stand his ground now...so hopefully Elsie will start to back off; she is such a bossy madam! The tadpoles sound great fun...I know my boys would be straight in the pond. Bailey managed to sniff out a lovely smelly dike on his first walk with me...or should I say swim! Thank you for your lovely messages. I did laugh about Brodick and the tadpoles!
