We had carpet fitted on Saturday downstairs for this reason which i feel a bit happier about. Must say i have missed having carpet. The things we do for our dogs.

My collection is coming under control somewhat now - although still have doormats strategically placed at the bottom of the stairs etc, with Charlie's recovery some of the worst rugs have now made it into the attic. Thankfully!

I am very sorry to hear of Buster's problems and hope that he is soon on the road to a good recovery. Dysplasia is like the sword of Damocles hanging over every Labrador's owners head. The thought that a healthy Labrador, with a limited lifespan is struck down at an early age with this dreadful condition, requiring major surgery, fills me with despair, although I am comforted to know that veterinary science has made major advances in the diagnosis and treatment of the disease. I am confident that dysplasia which is mainly caused by irresponsible breeding will be eliminated in the future once the screening programmes are established and the public are made aware of what to look out for before buying a puppy.

My lovely boy is now ten months old, we have been seeing the vets every two weeks since September, Buster has improved a lot, i don't even see the limp most of the time, i only see it sometimes it he's trotting (when he shouldn't be) then you see it a bit, we saw the vets yesterday he is happy with his progress and at the moment he doesn't want to operate he said thats not to say that he won't operate in the future but at the moment he is happy with his progress. The vet has now said we can up his walks to 2 x 15 min walks a day instead of 2 x10 mins, we don't have to go back to the vets for a month should save a little bit of money. :)

I wouldn't say Buster is any calmer as now his elbow feels more comfortable, he is moving around faster no matter how much i tell him to slow down, but there is light at the end of the tunnel and it is easier to deal with now, it just feels like second nature now.

Thanks for the update! Good to hear you are coping okay. Also good that no surgery is in the near future, anyway. :)
