    Hey guys,

I'm just in the throws of final preparations before Bob joins us tomorrow. I've made up 4 kongs for the freezer.. 2 with soaked kibble and peanut butter on ends. and 2 with mashed banana and cream cheese. It occurs to me while I make these up that they are going to make an awful mess when they are chewed! If I put one in the crate with Bob on his lovely new vetbed.. it's going to be a right old mess the next day!

How do you guys deal with the kong mess?

    Lou x

    LOL! ;D

I've actually just taken one out of the freezer - the soaked kibble/PB one... as he won't have seen a kong before so thought I'd make the first one easy to get into. Will he lick it all off the vetbed then as it squishes out? I can't see how it won't make a mess!

And Bob is older like my boy,he gets another whole round of fun when it's all gone sniffing round looking for any bits that he imagines he might have missedtrust us,you might find a lot more hair around the place but you won't be finding one crumb of food ever again!
I'd keep the kongs soft and easy for now.....I gave one to a 2 year old spaniel that comes to play at mine one afternoon a week....,he didn't know what to do...he learned quickly when Dexter tried to take it away from him to show him ;).
One more sleep to puppy day x

I agree, probably ot a good idea to freeze the Konng yet. Just fill it with kibble, cheese, tuna or whaterver to get Bob used to it. Frozen kongs are realy for slightly older dogs as it takes time to get the frozzen tastyness out.

Thank you, have removed all kongs from the freezer :) My boyfriend made a lovely fish sauce tonight so I've swiped some leftovers to add to some mashed potato or rice for later on this week.

Sounds mental. Forget Bob, im coming round to eat. Remember to wiegh your kongs & take that away from his kibble wieght.

Kong mess will be the least of your messes!

Mud, cow poo, fox poo, soil from the garden, dog hair, chewed sticks ... you name it - MESS is on its way!!!

Maybe wait a little before introducing fish sauce etc? New puppies have enough going on without new food in their tums...

A little soaked (not frozen) kibble to get him used to the idea of kongs is fine...give him the tasty stuff once he has settled, and then move onto frozen once he is a chew toy addict. :)

Frozen kongs leave wet marks on vetbed...so what? :)

You can extend the fun and prolong mealtimes by hiding the Kong in the house or garden.
