hi, now i am taking the training serious, , i would like to get some advice on treats, i have been using the pedigree treats but need to find a more rewarding treat, i have tried him with a small piece of hot dog sausage also small cube of cheese, i understand i will need to subsidise his food for treats, any advice please on what to use for a rewarding treat and amounts he can have
Re: advice please Roast chicken is king round here I just keep an eye on the waistline (dog's, that is) and adjust dinners accordingly. Just use little bits - like the size of the fingernail on your little finger.
Re: advice please he is still on 3 feeds aday. due to be reduced to 2 soon, would you advice that i leave is lunch time meal out, ? use is lunch time meal for treats through out the day i will have to watch the waist line with him as he is a very big dog, dont want him getting fat
Re: advice please Hi Lynne , what I would do is to leave out the lunchtime meal or just give a very very tiny meal before cutting it out completely at around 6 months and also reduce the other two feeds to compensate for the treats . I buy cheapish sausage and cook it, cut it into tiny bits for Sam , or cheese , anything that smells really appetitising
Re: advice please thank you for the advice kate, sounds like i am on the right track, i have bought hot dog sausages and cut them up small, also cheddar cheese, no one eats cheese in this house, so dint no what cheese to buy, my son is staying at his g/friends this week, calling on his way home from work to take him for his evening walk, told him i had ordered the book and we had both got to read it, so we both using the same commands, i showed him what training i had done over the last couple of days, my son made me feel very proud of my self said i had done an amazing job,
Re: advice please We`re fine thanks Lynne , Sams wound is clean and his temperature is normal , he enjoyed his outing this morning so all is well
Re: advice please Lynne, your son should be proud of you and the training you are doing with Jasper. Well done. Helen xx
