Willow woke me up about three hours after going to bed with a lot of whining. It sounded different to he "I'm awake and bored" noise, so (when she went quiet), I popped in and let her outside. She immediately did an ENORMOUS poo and wee, even though she'd already "performed" around midnight. I was happy that I'd understood her different noise and let her ease her obvious discomfort. We went back to our separate beds and to sleep, but an hour later, there was the same noise. I thought she might be trying it on, so again I left it a couple of minutes, but there was no sign of abating, so I went and let her out again. This time, she had a runny poo, and stayed in her squat position for ages after; obviously a little uncomfortable - a feeling I can relate to from enjoying the odd hot curry! The same thing happened an hour later. I have no idea what caused it because yesterday was a very dull day food-wise. She's full of beans this morning - I am not - and she ate her breakfast with gusto. I added a little extra water to it to ensure she's properly hydrated. Hopefully it's all out of her system now and she'll be back to full firmness in no time. Poor little pup, though. She got extra (gentle) belly rubs this morning.
Re: Poorly tum meant a restless night Poor little love , if it continues today, try the chicken and rice regime for 24 hours, or white fish and rice . When you cook the rice, leave it very sloppy and watery so that it will help to stop Willow becoming dehydrated x
Re: Poorly tum meant a restless night She's still runny and so has just been served her first helping of rice and chicken. She didn't seem to care how bland it looked and sounded and gobbled it straight up. Let's hope it does the trick. Should I be feeding her roughly the same amount as if she was eating kibble, or a little less until she's better? I'm assuming the chicken and rice is lower in calories than the kibble gram-for-gram.
Re: Poorly tum meant a restless night Hope her tummy settles soon. I used to give 1 chicken breast a day and 2 serving spoons of rice per meal. I altered this depending on how she was doing on it.
Re: Poorly tum meant a restless night Well, she went through the night without a poo and didn't even have one this morning when I let her out, despite not having one since early evening. I fed her a small breakfast and, lo and behold, a relatively normal poo appeared! Not quite kickable, but not far off! Yey to chicken and rice!
Re: Poorly tum meant a restless night Glad she's better today....just to answer your question even though Dexter is 2 if I'm having to feed chicken and rice I give him it over 4 small meals in the day ,each one a big handful of rice and say a palm sized piece of chicken ( Max) chopped up into little pieces and like Kate said,very sloppy x

[/quote] How much chicken / rice did you give can I ask? Only Bob still has v sloppy poos and I'm wondering whether to make some up for him. Willow and Bob are about the same size/age aren't they. Did you give the rice for her dinner? Only Bob has already had some kibble for lunch now. Lou x

Bob has been runny all day... so he's going to have rice and chicken tonight for his dinner and tomorrow as well. I've also ordered some of that pro-biotic supplement to add to his kibble when we get back on that. Fingers crossed! Lou x

I'll pop down to the vet tomorrow afternoon if no massive improvement. He's pretty OK in himself.. playing lots and sleeping lots. He's also drinking lots too which is positive. Fingers crossed the chicken and rice helps... he wolfed it down Lou x
