Should we be worried? It was only 1 and it is milk chocolate. But he only weighs 2.4kg.... Not sure what to do??? Thank you, Lou x
Re: Bob's just eaten a smartie!!!! No, it will be ok - don't worry That's not enough to harm him, even though he is small.
Re: Bob's just eaten a smartie!!!! Oh dear! I am sure it will be the first of many. Doesn't sound like much to worry about. Lochan previously suggested an Australian vet website with a handy calculator. Chocolate Toxicity Calculator I think it is pretty reassuring. Search "Chocolate" on here and you will see what some of the other naughty pooches have eaten and got away with. I think Lochan's two must be the worst though - its always the Doctor's kids, and the Vet's animals, and woe betide a Midwife who actually has her own baby! ;D ;D
Re: Bob's just eaten a smartie!!!! On Thursday Molly swiped and ate a 140 gram packet of soft eating liquorice (including most of the packaging). It had no discernible effect

Re: Bob's just eaten a smartie!!!! I have a feeling that it is mostly sugar. As you said, they eat all sorts of things. I try not to think about what she eats when she plunges into a hedge. I'd probably never want to pet her again
Re: Bob's just eaten a smartie!!!! Our old 'step-dog' once ate all the chocolates off the christmas tree. Must have had at least a dozen (quality street). I blamed the kids. Had to apologise profusely to them when we found lots of silver foil in piles of dog poo the next day...
Re: Bob's just eaten a smartie!!!! My old dog swiped the contents of my daughter's Advent Calendar. She was forgiven, but if it had been one of the siblings it would have been a very different matter
Re: Bob's just eaten a smartie!!!! A single Smartie is not going to do any harm, I shudder to think what Bouncer has eaten & he is ok.
Re: Bob's just eaten a smartie!!!! Simba got into the COCOA POWDER while we were away, once. Came home to cocoa powder all over the kitchen and living room and kitchen. He survived, albeit the humans barely did, what with an absolutely wired lab whose motor was on EXTREME for about 24 hours. He also ate a box of unsweetened dark chocolate, same result. All cooking chocolate is now in the freezer and the cocoa powder up in a cupboard he can't reach. Chocolate can be deadly to dogs, for sure, so one does has to be careful with it but luckily our dogs are big enough that they can survive encounters with it, at least in our experience. Of course our pooch does have a cast iron stomach. Thankfully.
Re: Bob's just eaten a smartie!!!! sure one smarties won't be a problem but bless you for being such a caring owner to worry. Sure its worse than having babies to worry about. X
