We arrived home late last night after a chaotic but fun couple of days with my daughter and family in Hungerford Sams routine at home is far removed from the " full on " time he spent with the children At home, he has long walks/training routines, after which he will come home, almost drain the ponds of water ( despite two large bowls of fresh water being available ) and follow this with a snoring snooze for a couple of hours , fat chance of this happening with five dog loving children : They all know better than to disturb him whilst napping , the problem being that it is a chaotic household so the chance of napping is pretty slim and he loves the children so much that he happily plays all day with them . At one point yesterday afternoon, we couldnt find him , the garden is very secure but he wasnt to be found anywhere, no response to calls and whistles , then eventually , the cry went out " He`s here " Bless him , he had gone right in to the dense shrubbery at the bottom of the garden and crashed out , out of sight in the shade in the very middle of the rhodedendrums ;D Little George, my youngerst grandson who is two years old , sobbed his heart out when we left after tea , pointing at Sam and calling out " No " when he realised his playmate was going , bless him . I took Sam out early this morning, back to his training which he immediately picked back up, he has been sleeping soundly for the past three hours , catching up on beauty sleep I suppose
Re: Sam is shattered ! Kate, this lovely story has made me smile. Joseph has found a lovely big hole, lovingly dug by Elsie, under some bushes, and I've often found him fast asleep in here. He always looks so comfy that I'm tempted to jump in myself and join him
Re: Sam is shattered ! Fun had by all Kate, glad you had such a lovely time with your family. Helen xx
Re: Sam is shattered ! Glad you had such a nice time, Kate. My old dog Bones was a great one for needing a nap... Apparently, even when he was a puppy and his siblings were out and about in the farmyard causing trouble, he would often just curl up and have a snooze... He remained a calm, chilled character for the rest of his life!
Re: Sam is shattered ! Great to hear that you had a wonderful time! So funny about Sam's little hidey hole in the rhododendrons
Re: Sam is shattered ! Glad you had a good time. We had a shattered Lady yesterday too. A really long walk that included "killer" cows en route, followed by an evening picnic. I could tell she was tired as she just got in the back of the car and had a sleep for an hour before getting interested in her dinner and other stuff like chicken! ;D
