Rolo has been having runnyish poops since we got him. We feed him Eukanuba, his breeder had him on this so we continued. He has no other food his treats are his kibble, the only variance of this is he sometimes has a few kong puppy treat biscuits. We went out last night and my mother in law looked after him. She has mentioned that his poops shouldn't be as smelly and as runny as they are. He had a few accidents in his crate before we came home but I don't think it was Rolo's fault I think it was the Mother in law not following my routine. WARNING TOO MUCH INFO COMING When he poops he squats does a poo toddles a few steps does a little bit more and then again toddles a few steps more and then does like a snotty, muccusy poop. Is this normal? I am sorry for the graphic details of his pooping ritual just not sure if this normal. What would we do without a site like this?

Are they hard or runny too? Slimey and snotty poo could also be an indication for a blockage and also him changing position while pooing might be an sign. Have you talked to your vet about that?
Re: Could Rolo's food be too rich? If he was mine, I'd try changing food on the basis that it can't make things worse. You'd need to look for one with different ingredients, for example perhaps one that doesn't contain wheat. Over feeding can also cause runny poo. I wouldn't worry about the occasional runny poo but it shouldn't be like that all the time. Oh and, just a thought, has he been wormed?
Re: Could Rolo's food be too rich? Some of them do have sensitive tummies, you are dealing with an immature system. Many manufacturers will give you samples to try. Different forum members will recommend different products, and they are all right. it is a matter of what works for your dog. Make any changes gradually, otherwise you won't know where you are. It may not seem like it now, but in a few months time you will be moaning about all the DISGUSTING and UNSUITABLE things that disappear down his throat.

Re: Could Rolo's food be too rich? Sometimes the first bit of his poo is more solid, not pick upable (should I be able to pick it up not scrape it up). Then as the poo goes on it turns to snotty stuff. He doesn't change his body stance position just spreads the poo out over the garden in 3 portions! It really stinks too.

Re: Could Rolo's food be too rich? Thank you for all your great advice. He has had a good hard poop today so maybe I'm panicking for no reason. He is at the vet's tomorrow so will mention it whilst I am there. Thanks again guys for always being there.
Re: Could Rolo's food be too rich? Meg has been on Eukanuba Large Breed puppy from 8 weeks until now 8 months. She has lovely poos !! So maybe an allergy/intolerance to something. Hopefully the vet will advise

I'm almost reluctant to chip in as you get such a vast array of replies on a poo thread!think we all love a good chat about poo!ive been writing about Dexters tummy already on e tonight,I just wanted to say Dexter was on Eukanuba puppy when he came to us,allegedly he was fine on it as he left his breeder but he was absolutely when he arrived to us.we put it down to age,travel,environment change,there were many factors. I would have said to organise a vet visit if you weren't already,let us know how you get on x
Re: Could Rolo's food be too rich? I too would talk to the vet when you are there tomorrow. His poo should be 'kickable', not 'scrape up able'. Harley has a sensitive tummy so we had to change food, but done it slowly.
