Have you ever heard of a fish allergy?

I've posted before about hollies poo situations and food.

We have changed her to skinners (high meat content) from Simpsons 80/20/0 (high fish content)as she was having terribly runny poo, since changing she has had what is known in our house as a perfect poo!!!!!

Anyway we had some free treats from fish4dogs that we thought we would try while out and her runny poo is back

    Can't be coincidence, can it???

Dogs and humans can be allergic to absolutely anything so a fish allergy is very possible. Most allergies are due to how the body deals with the proteins in the item or doesn't deal with them more to the point.

My boy loves fish and does fine eating it, but the fish skins (sea jerky) from fish4dogs give him terrible runny poo. I'm not quite sure that upsetting a tum counts as an allergy though.

Yes, a bit of a sensitive tum, perhaps, and fish doesn't agree with her.

Too many Fish4dogs salmon strips give Charlie runny poo too - I reckon they are very rich. He does great on the cod and rice seabiscuits though. Also, the salmon strips are very expensive, so he doesn't get them very often! I reckon he adjusts to things he gets all the time.

Dexter had/ still has a sensitive tum.His food is RC gastro and that's why I say 'had' as he's stable when on it and has a very simple diet...kibble for meals ,steamed and roast chicken for training treats and I've now introduced sea biscuits and sardines....he literally gets the runs if he has anything else.Any upset tums are the result of food misdemeanours  it too me about 5 days to build up to a full sea biscuit ::)...he was absolutely fine ,just when you have lived with a prolonged upset tum it makes you really cautious....funnily enough the sea jerky doesn't upset him ( an unsupervised visitor have him a whole one in one go   ;D) but he literally has one a day after teeth cleaning!
I think you are probably right about there being something about fish upsetting Holly, maybe fish is just too rich for her?thank goodness there are so many foods available on the market because the forum dogs all have such different needs and digestions.glad you've found something that is suiting her x
