    Hi Bud

Just a quick note to say happy 13 week day! Mummy has just got back in from a really really long day at work so I can't talk for long, I have to go and make her play tuggies and then share her dinner and then curl up next to her on the sofa. I know it is my job and expected of me!!

    Speak soon, Bud

    Morning Pongo.

Sorry i missed you last night.

Thank you for the "weekday" wishes. I completely understand that you had a job to do once your mummy came home from her workplace. It is becoming so very obvious that when they walk through that door they need us to run up to them, give them love, and play with each of our toys with them. They need a huge fuss made of them don't they? Bless 'em.

I always look forward to mummy walking through the door, or those times me and daddy go out to meet her. It feels complete. Daddy sometimes then falls asleep though which is so unfair as i want to play with them both.

Just waiting patiently for my breakfast. I am getting so good at this. Looked up at the sky today and it looks a bit different. Daddy says "we may get some sun today." Is that good?

Have a great day, Pongo. Catch up soon.

    Bud

Bore DA Bud from Lemmy in South Wales. That's hello in welsh How's it going Bud? You still on sardines I loves anything fishy I do mummy reckons I'm half seal I been to school today with lots of other puppy's one rather attractive cockapoo caught my eye as she was wooly just like my fave bear Mummy seemed a tad worried I'd try and " special cuddle" puppy but I know these things can't be rushed so started our courtship with bum sniffs as I'm a classy sort of pup. Hope your looking after your human it can be a worry they seem so sad sometimes I find doing the cartoon eyes and a head tilt makes them smile and a paw on knee can cheer my Mum right up and gets me head kisses ( my weakness) and even cheese sometimes. Well its way past there bed time and I can't settle till they do the bedtime ritual so I'll sign of Bud mate but will be reading your blog with interest ( OK Mummy reads it to me but only coz my paws is just to big for the tablet. Xxxx
    [/quote]

Lemmy, a very good morning to you. Or maybe i should say Bore da. Had your breakfast yet? Not long had mine, just had to wait for a blackbird to make a noise!!!!!

Daddy showed me this picture of what he says is a map, and he pointed to a bit and said "this is where Lemmy lives." I nibbled his finger and thought "well i can't see him." Then he pointed to another bit and said "and this is us." You guessed it...got his finger again, thinking "silly daddy, we're here not there."

Yes, i am still on that sardine accompaniment (daddy's word) though i don't have it for breakfast. Thank you by the way for offering me a bit of yours last night. Your mummy passed it on to me when she said hello. I think i have some other fish type of food arriving soon-another man making a noise on our door who then passes items to daddy. Not sure when exactly but these are treats so i understand.

What do you do at school Lemmy-is it fun? I am sure they all adore you.

Me and daddy look after each other very well i think, when mummy isn't here. Daddy makes me feel very special and tries to hide how he is sometimes feeling. I in return let him know that i am here. We play, he races me up and down the garden thinking he is faster and then it becomes me chasing him. I make him fall over sometimes-he can be so clumsy. Then i climb all over him and give him loads of licks. His face wrinkles up sometimes when i do this, so i do it some more as he likes it so much!

What's cheese Lemmy? Such a fun sounding word. Cheese....cheeeeeeeesssee......CHEESE!!! Is it really good? (Daddy will probably say "Is it healthy?")

I sometimes try to read for myself all the messages and stories from all of my friends, but i am only a young puppy and i don't really understand the strange and small shapes on that shiny screen thing. So daddy reads everything to me too.

Be well my friend, and look after your people at home. Chat with you soon.xx

Thank you Dexter. My day was amazing, but i hear that if i wait until i turn 1 year old then it is extra, extra, extra special. How long do i have to wait for that...is it next week? (Why is daddy laughing and shaking his head?)

Bye Dexter. Thank you for dropping by.

Thanks Lemmy. I don't think my parents will go for anything really stinky, as you say, because they might think it will make me stinkier (is that a word?) But if they don't already have cheese in their box that lets out cool air when the door opens, then i will bark and whine and even sit staring at the box until i know they have some. Whether i get to taste it....who knows?

Enjoy your walk Lemmy. Been out for mine, and about to have a "mad half hour" as my parents say.

    Catch you later mate.

Hey Bud. I have had a FUN morning!

First off, Mummy got up nice and early and after a little while let me out of my crate. She was pottering around in the kitchen, and she opened the big silver thing that quite-cold stuff comes from. Out came a pile of something that smelled absolutely lovely. Just like my chicken wings I have for lunch sometimes, but much bigger. Mummy said they were "carcasses" and she was making "stock". I have no idea what that means, but I sure hope I get to see one of those carcasses up close one day. Yummers! Mummy and I have been learning a new trick. She has put one of my towels outside the kitchen entrance. Every time I go and sit down on it, I get a treat. It's such an easy game! The best bit is, if I sit there longer, she keeps on giving me treats! She said it stops me from getting under her feet and keeps me safe, so I'm happy about that. After what seemed like aaaaaaages, the treat I was getting was pieces of lovely warm chicken meat, straight from the pot. Now, THAT is a treat worth having!

After that, mummy took me into that little room with her. At the end of the room is a big area with a glass screen covering most of it, but enough space so that the humans can get into it. In she went, looking a bit pinker than normal, and pulled on a couple of wheel things which made water come down from the sky. It was really cool! I went in to have a look and my head got really wet, but it was OK because it was warm. After that, I kept running in and dancing in the warm inside-rain and then running out again and shaking. Mummy said "it really is a wet room now", whatever she meant by that. Once the inside-rain had stopped, mummy cuddled me up in a big towel and rubbed me all over, which was lovely. I was still quite wet, though, and so she got out this strange black device from the cupboard. She pressed a button and it made a strange noise which I wasn't sure of, but when she pointed it at me, it was lovely and warm. I couldn't see anything coming out of the black thing, but I could feel it touching me, all warm and dry. I tried to catch whatever it was that was coming out in my mouth, but I couldn't get hold. It was so much fun!

Afterwards, she sat down on the sofa and started tapping on her silver box again. To answer your question, yes, she is very fast! Sometimes voices come out of the computer, too, and then she talks back! It's all a bit weird, if you ask me. I didn't mind her tapping away, though, because I needed a good nap after all the excitement.... zzzzzzzz

Wow, Willow. What a fantastic morning you had. It must be wonderful to have a mummy get up so early and prepare your treats. The smell must have been divine.

I like the sound of the trick with the towel, and i am certain daddy would appreciate something that stops me constantly tripping him up, though I have learned to lie down on this really cosy rug in the kitchen beside a white object with what looks like a window in it. I have watched things go round and round in there, and water slosh against the glass, but i never get wet. I do like this rug and when mummy or daddy are cooking i will almost fall asleep here as it keeps me close to them, and the delightful aromas.

Isn't that inside-rain so much more inviting than that outside water that is so cold and uncomfortable. I do like walking and running in the rain outside but after experiencing the warmth of the inside-rain i know which i would prefer to be sprinkled with. I sometimes get placed into some really lovely warm water where i am gently rubbed all over. Mummy normally does this. and then when i come out i too get wrapped in a really large, soft towel and rubbed all over until i start to feel warmer and drier. That thing with the invisible warm stuff coming out of it makes me jump about all over the place, one of those times i have what is classed as a "mad half hour." After all the activity though i am wonderfully dry, and worn out.

Today was my second day in my own personal room. Mummy and daddy have been introducing me to my room differently than before, by staying in there with me and constantly playing and rubbing my tummy (oooooh i really do enjoy this.) They say it is to help me get used to the room and realise there is nothing scary in there. I am sure that one day soon i will be left in there on my own for a very short while, and i hope i behave like a good boy when they do.

Oh no.....the outside rain is coming out to play again now, and i need to go to my corner of the garden. When i get there the rain seems to just disappear, and then i feel it on me again when i go back to the house.

Willow, why are my mummy and daddy laughing right now? Do you know? All i am doing is running in and out of rooms, jumping up at the sofa, running round in circles and basically not stopping. Is this that funny that it would cause them to laugh until water comes out of their eyes? Could this be the "mad half hours" they mention?"

Well, time for a snooze. And then my tea. And then more play and cuddles. A nap. A walk. And probably my long sleep. And of course talking with all my friends. What more could a puppy ask for.

    A quick Good Morning,

Started my day in good spirits. Early walk before breakfast, played tug with my rope ball and still daddy is stronger than me. I am getting stronger though. Had my breakfast with an audience......i know the creatures in the sky and the trees are birds. These were black and white i think and daddy has called them magpies. They were just watching me from the top of the fence. I think they are funny when they talk to each other. We have other visitors to our garden who have their own food....daddy has called them collared doves, blackbirds, robins and tits of the blue, and great variety (i think that is a really funny word but daddy won't let me repeat it.)

Something is wrong with daddy today as he is not talking much and using hand gestures, which i do understand. He seems slower than usual but he is making sure my needs are met so i have no reason to worry. That ball in the sky is playing out today after a wet night. I can't reach it though so i make do with my own toys.

Off to my rug in the kitchen for a little snooze. And maybe i will follow daddy around to make sure he is ok.

    Bye for now.

    Bud.xx

Hope you've had a good day Bud :)
I was home alone this morning so I got to sleep on mummy's chair and on her pillows :) they are soooo comfy :) mummy came home at luch time and I got to play with my ball lots, then had my yummy lunch in 2 kongs :) I was then on mummy's chair for a while when she went to work - I don't mind being home alone as I always get a nice treat and get to sleep on mummy's chair :)
I have just got in from a nice long walk to the park and got to play with my ball lots :) mummy said I was a 'good girl' because I came back when she blew the whistle......I didn't want a treat, just to play with my ball so mummy let me :)
I got a bit wet on my walk as it is raining, but after playing with the towel with daddy I'm all nice and cosy now :)
I just heard lots of bangs......I don't like them ;( mummy said it's okay as it's a thing called fireworks...have you heard any loud bangs yet? Please don't be scared, I'm trying not to be :)
Anyway Bud, I'm off to have a snooze before my tea
    Speak to you soon
    Your friend, Harley :)

Hi there Harley. Really good to hear from you.

Balls are so much fun aren't they. I love chasing mine, and sometimes i bring it back for mummy and daddy to throw again. Other times i drop it and wait for daddy to fetch it for me.

I don't have to spend time alone in the home because daddy is always here - i think he is forced to be at home because of his health. I sense these things but also i listen to conversations and try to make sense of them. I have been spending a little more time in my very own room, but i still get a little scared and uncomfortable. Daddy thinks it might be because i associate the room with that crate thing that stopped me running to mummy and daddy, or that i remember being called a naughty boy when i had some accidents. Today though i had quite a long sleep on my own big bed whilst daddy was "working." When i woke up i was on my own but i didn't cry. I think daddy came back up when he heard me moving so i never had time to get scared again.

It has not been wet here today, which was nice. My walks out and my time in the garden have been much more pleasant. I had a surprise waiting for me outside this afternoon. It was a toy with some new flavoured treats inside, a "treat bone" as daddy calls it. Wow...the flavours were new to me but ever so scrummy. I couldn't get to them all even though i bit and chewed and threw it around. Great fun. I heard daddy also say to mummy on this little box in his hand that my Kong is ready for tomorrow!!! Woohoo. I cannot wait. (How did mummy fit in such a little box? I know she was there as i could hear her voice.)

These fireworks you mention are a little frightening when i first hear them. They haven't been very close, and if they are i might want to run and hide. But for now i am being quite brave i think and paying them little attention. Be strong my friend. We will both be fine.

Catch up with you soon Harley. It has been wonderful talking with you.

Re: Bud's Story (an ongoing diary)

    Hi Bud!

I've never really got the hang of these 'ball' things. My mum and dad seem to want me to run after them when they throw them, but when I do and bring them back, they just throw them away again... what's that all about? If they want them, why don't they keep them? And if they don't want them, why do they think that I should run after them? It is all very strange, like a lot of the things they do.

Now STICKS are a different matter. Sticks are great. Sticks need to be chewed and destroyed. I love sticks. There are a lot of trees in our garden and quite often mummy and daddy spent a lot of time cutting big sticks off them. Then they drag the big sticks all the way to the end of the garden where sometimes they make a big fire. They seem to have lots of fun doing this, because they grunt and shout to each other a lot and wave their hands about and look really pleased when they've dragged everything all that way. So, just to help them have more fun, I've learned to grab the sticks once they've moved them, and drag them all the way back down the garden to where mummy and daddy started from. This is quite fun because the sticks are much, much bigger than I am and they keep catching on things and fighting back. I'm sure that mum and dad appreciate my efforts. They certainly shout my name a lot when they see what I'm doing.

I also like bringing the sticks into the house so I can destroy them in peace. I've found that one decent-sized stick can pretty much cover the whole floor of the main room, if I really try hard. Then daddy plays the sweeping-up game that he enjoys so much. I think.

I hope you enjoy your Kong! Tell us what was inside it, won't you?

    Night night Bud

    Hi Pongo.

I certainly will let you know what's inside my Kong. Can't promise to save you any though as it may be too delicious.

I've recently become acquainted with sticks, but unlike your mummy and daddy, mine remove them from the house and throw them back into the garden. You guessed it though, that is one of my bestest games as i go back out and cheekily bring it back in. Sometimes i manage to sneak it into the main room and start tearing it apart. But daddy soon removes all of my hard work. I don't think he likes the mess i make, but i do see him smile a lot so i know he accepts that i am just a young puppy having fun.

Anyway, i am really tired, and you are probably already in your favourite sleeping place dreaming of all your favourite things.

Nite nite Pongo. Chat again soon.

Please tell your Daddy that sticks are very dangerous to dogs, but he can buy you a plastic one which is safe to use. Unfortunately when you run out, the stick can hit the ground at an angle and you can run to it and the stick will go into your mouth and down your throat. My Mum has had a friend whose 9 month old pup died because of this. I am sure your Daddy didn't realise this and was giving you lots of fun, he seems like a very good Dad.

Hello Stacia. My daddy is aware of the many dangers that could cause me harm, and he always monitors everything he does that concerns me. I believe that when daddy, or mummy, throw me sticks, they are completely confident that i am not at risk. Daddy asks me to STAY until he has seen the stick land, and in our garden, which is where i play with sticks at the moment, the trees are only dropping soft sticks. Please don't worry about me. I am very safe.

Morning Bud! It's great making a mess isn't it! My favourite is tearing the bark off wood on our wood pile, sneaking it into the lounge and shreading it all over the place! Then the thing called a hoover appears (not keen on that) and takes it all away! But there's plenty more on the wood pile to play with ;)

Re: Bud's Story (an ongoing diary)

Morning friends. Not feeling my very best today. My tummy is a little fragile and my parents think that maybe my food accompaniments-the human food that is-may not be agreeing with me. I really like the extra taste these foodstuffs provide to my meals, but i don't want to feel poorly and give my parents extra work to do when i use the toilet (i think you will know what i mean by this.) Daddy wants to add something to my meals to help me enjoy it more because i seem to wolf it down in one go more when it is not completely dry. I really like the taste and occasional crunch of my dry food but a little something extra makes it all the more scrummy.

Daddy made me something called a stock before, a couple of times actually. One time it took a very short time and i think he poured these little pieces into a container and added water that steamed. Another time though i think he made this stock on top of that white object that has doors and lets out hot air at times when these doors open. If any of my friends can help my daddy feel confident that he is providing me with a healthy and safe addition to my meals, i would be very grateful.

I am going to lie down for a while next to daddy and probably sleep a little. I have eaten some of my breakfast but don't feel like any more just yet.

    Talk later.

    Morning Maisie,

It certainly is good fun playing with anything that can be torn and shredded like you say. Making a mess is surely just a game that our parents haven't quite understood yet. :D Is that what it's called...a hoover? The thing that once got stuck to my leg and made me growl. My own fault for trying to fight with it.

Speak with you soon. Having a rest now.

    Hi Bud,

Sorry I haven't chatted recently but my mummy has been very busy tapping away at her silver box and so I haven't been able to get to write to you. It sounds like you're having a lot of fun. It's Kong Day for you today! you must be so excited! I wonder what lovely stuff will go in it?! I've had peanut butter, banana, sardines, pumpkin, soaked kibble, chicken - all sorts. I've also heard of something delicious-sounding called cream cheese. I fancy giving that a go sometime. I wonder if mummy will make it for me some time. She said she's been reading a page on the forum with lots of different ideas for what to put in it. Yummy!

For fun, I love to chase things and bring them back to be thrown again. I have a couple of squeaky kong balls, ropes (although I find these a bit boring, if I'm honest), a cuddly meerkat toy and a marvellous thing my mummy made from an old pair of jeans cut up and tied together. I'm learning the difference between playing with that, which gets me lots of tugging and chasing fun, and playing with the jeans that mummy and daddy wear, which they don't like me doing. I haven't discovered the wonders of sticks yet, but I do love to dig up moss and spread that around the living room. It's great fun, and then one of my favourite toys, the brush, comes out to play! Mummy regularly takes away some of my toys for a few days. It always makes me so excited to get them back again! I have another favourite, my "sock sausage", which is a big pink sock that mummy stuffed with crinkly plastic bags. I haven't seen that in a few days, so I hope I get to play with it again soon!

I don't like being left alone, either, Bud. Yesterday, mummy put me in my crate and then went OUT OF THE HOUSE. WITHOUT ME! I cried all the time she was gone. She told me it wasn't long, but it felt like forever. She says I have to get used to it and to learn to keep myself calm, but I'm not sure I can do that. I suppose I'll have to try to be brave, but it is difficult. It's nice having her with me all day. I really don't see why she has to leave me.

I hope your daddy is feeling a bit better today, Bud. I'm sure that you're doing a really good job keeping an eye on him and making sure he's OK and I bet that just you being there makes him feel better. I hear doggy licks are the best way to make a human feel good, so make sure you keep dishing those out.

I'm sorry you have a bit of a squidgy tummy. I get that sometimes when I have new foods. My mummy tells me it's normal and it's just my belly adjusting to the new things. She tries to make sure that new things are introduced slowly. That stuff you call stock is delicious, but hopefully your daddy is making sure it's not too salty, because that isn't very good for us. Humans like to put salt in their food, but we don't really need it to make things taste good. My mummy puts warm water onto my biscuits which makes them smell lovely and stops me eating them so quickly. She doesn't let them soak, because I like the crunch, but the water ends up with little bits of kibble in it and tastes like gravy. Yummy!

Anyway, Bud, I hope you have a good day and don't forget to tell us all about your kong!

    Speak soon,

    Willow x

    WOWEEEEEEEEEEE!! Me like KONGS!

Hello Willow. Feeling a little better than i did this morning. Certainly got an appetite as i wait for my tea.

So, after my sleep, and a game of PAWS (where daddy keeps trying to grab my paws and i try to nibble his hand....gently as he is continuously warning me against being too rough), i finally see the door of that box with the really cold breeze open as daddy looked inside for what i hoped would be my Kong. I was not disappointed because there it was in all its glory.

He held it in his hand as i sat looking up at him. I gave him a paw which he shook gently, and then i carefully took the Kong between my teeth and ran into the room with the sofa, dropped the Kong on the floor and prepared to find out what all the fuss was about. It felt cold and hard on my teeth at first, but i noticed something at the end which had a nice smell and i started to nibble at it. Eventually it started to crumble as my teeth are getting sharp now. It had the......"Daddy-need a word,"..................consistency of my usual treats but this tasted different. A bit like my sardine that we think might have caused my upset tummy. Except it tasted better, in my opinion. Daddy told me after a while that it was a Fishcuit made from salmon, and our friend Pongo loves these. I can now see why.

I continued biting at and chewing my Kong, licking the sides which seemed to have something sticky outside, and it was coming from the other end of the Kong. The more i licked the softer it became until i got a surprise when a large amount dribbled out of the end. I gobbled it up quickly. It had a slightly dry sensation, a little sweet but i think it is more of what our parents would call a savoury. I wanted more and more did come out as i threw and gnawed and squeezed at my Kong between my jaws. After what must have been a very long time, i stopped playing with my Kong, went over to daddy and sat at his feet with eyes asking "What was that delicious taste?" He told me it was something you have had Willow...peanut butter, and as low in salt as he could find. He tells me he is still a little concerned about the possibility of me reacting badly to it, but mummy has said that there has to come a time where he stops worrying. As long as i am watched and they both read lots and lots about food for us puppies, i should be fine.

Anyway Willow my young friend, you did not need to apologise. I understand perfectly how hard it can be sharing that "tapping box" with our parents. If your mummy does ever treat you to the cream cheeeeeeeeessssseeee foodstuff please let me know what it tastes like.

Do you really find ropes boring? I have a rope ball which is one of the first things i collect when i wake up as i love to gnaw on it. I will one day untangle this ball. Until then i love to chew it, fling it in the air, and play tug with daddy to test my strength. I have a cuddly bear toy which i sometimes half climb inside since i tore it open...daddy has placed a smaller bear inside but i can't get it yet. I have seen a cuddly meerkat toy in what was my own room (i now share the special room upstairs with my parents but i will tell you more about this another time,) and i only know it is a meerkat because my parents told me it is.

What is moss Willow? Is it something you find in the garden? I have dug up soil and something they call "bulbs", and brought them into the house to my daddy's joy. He goes "aaarrrghhhh" and gestures with his hands, which is a great game as i just jump around him and bark with excitement. He is playing isn't he? I also have been introduced to a broom, which i think is also a brush. I chase this when it is moving across the ground, and growl at it. But sometimes also run away as it gets a bit scary when it moves towards me. I think your mummy is very clever to invent a "sock sausage." Sounds like a wonderful noisy toy.

I am glad i am not the only one who doesn't like being left alone. We both realise don't we Willow that it is for our own eventual benefit. Doesn't make it easy though. I know that i am not actually alone, though daddy does go out the front door and i think he is just doing something with the stones in the front garden. When he comes back i wag my tail and leap around because i missed him. I have noticed something though. When i am really tired i will fall asleep quite happily on my own. But when i wake up i get scared and look for my parents.

Daddy is feeling a bit better today also. He is talking a bit more but still moving around slowly. He looks tired and rubs the top of his body every now and again as if he is hurting. But he hasn't stopped looking after my needs.

Going to go now and wait for my tea. Just to let you know, daddy says thank you for hoping he is better today, And he says to reassure you that if he prepares his own stock then he leaves out salt. If he is using a ready prepared cube or sprinkly stuff then he tries to use the type with as minimal salt content as possible. You are different to me though Willow. Adding this stock to my food makes me eat it quicker. My dry food on its own with no stock takes me longer to eat it, and i tend to go back to it every so often until it has gone.

Right, be safe Willow. Catch up with you soon.

    Bud.x
