So I've posted before about Hollie and her squirty bum.

    Here is the timeline.....
    Thursday morning 4x watery stools
Was told by vet to starve for 24 hours!!!!!!!!

Thursday afternoon normal poo and A small amount of feed to change devil dog back to Hollie. Drinking fine normal self.

Friday normal everything, puppy training (star puppy as normal ) normal diet.

Saturday watery stools, sleepy, only eating ice cubes, not eating so starved again for 14 hours gave a little scrambled egg, back to normal. (I'm at work for 14 hours, hubby texting me)

Sunday (another 14 hour shift for me) Hollie sleepy but playing, back to normal, drinking well, eating scrambled egg or rice, no poo at all until 2100 hard to start then runny again

I've got a sample and will take it tomorrow, do I get an appointment or can I just drop it in and should I get a sample of morning poo if she has one and a wee sample?????

Has anybody got any idea what it could be???

    Thanks

I'd take a sample, preferably a morning one but you can bet she won't go ::) , and get an appointment to see the vet. She probably just needs a coarse of antibiotics and a tube of pro kolin. Did you see the vet or just speak to one when they said starve. Usually if a tummy upset goes on for over three days some treatment is needed. :-\

All our upset tums were related to Giardia and food not agreeing with Dexter .by taking a poo, sample in you vet can eliminate any nasties ( or treat them ) ....if nothing shows up,the. It may be a diet change that is required.
my big sympathies Ester, your heart just drops when they have been ok and then they are upset again :'(

    Hi Esther,

Sorry to read your post... I have no advice as we are going through a similar thing with Bob. We are currently waiting for his stools to be analysed. Sounds like you are doing all the right things. Let us know how you get on at the vet.

Unless you have already arranged with the vet that this is the next step, I'd make an appointment - the vet will want to see her, I should think.

We took Bob's sample in on Saturday and were told it would be ready by the end of this week... so nearly a week!

As it's been going on for several days, I would make an appointment to see the vet today. You could take the stool sample with you which might expedite things too. Let us know how you get on x

Have an appointment at 15:20 so will update you after,

she hasn't been for a poo at all today and only had 1 yesterday, do you think the egg is plugging everything up???? I've started to reduce egg/rice and re introduce her normal feed, but she is getting a little fussy and only eating the kibble because that's the only thing left?????

    Wish us luck

    Hope you get on ok.

If she hasn't been today maybe the vet could give you something to give her if her stomach is still upset next time she goes. It's not really worth giving her antibiotics etc if she's better. ::). Maybe the vet could make a note on her file that if she still has diarrhea you could go in and pick up some meds my vet has done that before now. Trouble is if you don't take her you can bet she will still have diarrhea. ::)

    Fingers crossed good luck. :)

PS just remembered my sisters dog was similar to holly. The vet just told her to starve. He'd solidify then go loose again. She'd only been feeding him rice for nearly a week. I told her to give him some proper food gradually and if he still had diarrhea to go back to the vet as I thought it was going on too long and the poor thing was probably hungry. She started feeding him his kibble again and his stomach went back to normal !!!

Well just got back and the vet didn't want the sample!!!

Have to keep an eye on her and keep her on bland diet, if no better by Thursday take her back we have some pro-kolin but don't want to bung her up

She has had a normal poo (sorry) this afternoon and is pretty much back to her normal self

I have added some kibble to her egg/rice to try and introduce slowly.

Fingers crossed it was just a little bug and she is still able to have her skinners

    Thanks for all your replies

I used the pro kolin and it didn't bung her up - just made her poo firmer :)
Take it slowly reintroducing her food. Good luck and I hope this is the end of it for you x
