Some of our neighbours had fireworks this evening, there were lots round and about last night and the pups were fine, but tonight they did not like them at all!! They were intrigued at first, at the crackling kind and went to the hedge to watch through it. Then there came the whistling/banging ones and they were petrified! Strangely tho, they kept going back out for a nosey, and wouldn't come back in to stay, we ended up crouched in our porch doorway, Barney glued to me and Jack sat watching in front of him. Once we came in Barney was so scared, big eyes, ears down and very clingy. He is normally the brave one and Jack's a scaredy cat, but tonight we had role reversal. Barney retreated to their crate, something he never does of his own accord, and bless Jack, he got in with him and snuggled up to him, then started a playfight with him to take his mind off it ;D We have been playing firework sounds to them, but I guess the noise, in the dark with the shooting light was just a bit too much for them. We won't be going out to any bonfires this year, so will be around every night to reassure them
Re: We don't like fireworks Bless them :-\ I think it much harder to ignore them when they are next door
Re: We don't like fireworks Awww, bless. Elsie decided she had to bark at them after they made her jump, but Betty sat on the window sill watching them going up, got bored in the end yawned and went to bed, when Elsie saw her go she dashed off to find her and cuddled up for comfort. Quite funny watching a tiny 5lb dog looking after a 20lb Labrador LOL

Re: We don't like fireworks bless poor Barney....my two are absolutely fine with the noise of fireworks ( helped by living near the city centre in Edinburgh where there are fireworks every night for three weeks over the Festival period so they got used to them) but Cuilli really doesnt like the sight of them. Brods is chilled... With numptys letting off fireworks all over the shop just now we stay in when it gets dark, just a super quick bed time wee trip then back in...roll on next week when its over!
Re: We don't like fireworks Bouncer is fine with fireworks its thunder he doesnt like. That said it is our towns Fireworks display tonight & we live about 1/4 mile from that so thats the big test.
Re: We don't like fireworks Same again tonight no doubt we will have this for another week yet. we have one pup asleep in the crate, the other on my feet, bless x
Re: We don't like fireworks Quite loud here again tonight Betty Chihuahua is ignoring them but collected Elsie and took her into her crate where she is cuddling her as I write. How Elsie managed to get into Betty's crate is a mystery Labrador in a Chihuahua crate ???
Re: We don't like fireworks Oh bless her! Jack has been looking after Barney which is really sweet too, Barney is normally the tough guy but he has needed cuddles from his brother x
