Had my five year old Grandson Silas here today , the weather has been glorious so the paddling pool came in very handy After lunch we went to Golitha Falls , a nature reserve just up the lane from us , its an ancient woodland with the river Fowey running through and a beautiful waterfall . Silas was running around with the energy only a five year old boy can have on a hot day , but the trees gave dappled shade when suddenly , a gang of six Labs, one Springer and one Cocker Spaniel appeared to join us at the waters edge . It was a friend mel who is a gundog trainer who lives nearby , I told her about Sams fear of swimming so she immediately began to throw tennis balls into the river , her lot throwing themselves in with great gusto, Sam observing in the wings . Suddenly, it all got too much for him and in he went, joining the happy crowd plus one wet little boy , the lure of all those balls proved too much for him to resist His swimming was by no means elegant or stylish , more of a thrashing about, but he was in ;D ;D
Re: What a blast ! Oh WOW! Thats brilliant Kate! Well done Sam....there will be no stopping him now ;D ;D jac
Re: What a blast ! How lovely, his friends showed him what to do.......and sounds like he enjoyed it.....doesn't let you off the hook though Kate with your well known supermarket wetsuit and venture into the pond....we are all waiting for the photographic evidence! Glad you all had a lovely time, you must have been delighted and Silas would have been in heaven x
Re: What a blast ! i bet your little grandson loved seeing sam in the water, yes photos would be good x
Re: What a blast ! That is excellent!! You must have been proud to see him take the plunge. I have to say, it sounds like a fairytale - a walk in a beautiful woodland setting, a river, dappled sunlight - and then 8 lovely gundogs magically appear. Heaven
Re: What a blast ! Fantastic and what a hoot too! Golitha falls is a very pretty spot. You are very lucky to be living in such a picturesque part of the country.
Re: What a blast ! Lovely photo. Yes been there but several years ago and when we were dogless. We're coming to Cornwall in September for the walking. Can't wait. We stay every year in a self catering place near Stithians. It's a good base for all point north, south, west and east. Lady loves it of course. She's even figured out how to cross Cornish stiles, and she's also discovered she can scale the high dry stone walls which I have to keep an eye on if she's a bit "hot" going over one ahead of us.
Re: What a blast ! It doesnt change David , some lovely deep pools for swimming too . The bluebells have been wonderful this year as were the primroses in the hedgerows, we`re at Golitha most days, its just a five minute drive from our home so yes, we are very lucky indeed . Sam likes to jump on top of the dry stone walls too
Re: What a blast ! Ahh... That looks lovely - beautiful...serene.... (just need to add a couple of dogs - or indeed, a whole pack of them ;D ;D ) jac
