So walking can commence on Wednesday, according to the vet. Yey!

We decided to leave her rabies jab for now, because the vet said it was a lot to do both in one day, and since puppy number 2 needs his done, too, we may as well do them together next week.

We also had one of our little ferrets looked at because she had a little lump near her hoo-ha (technical term) but the vet says it's just a cyst and nothing to worry about. Phew!

Can't wait for our first walk on Wednesday morning. Exciting!!!

    Hoo-ha?
I must remember that one - is it ferret-specific or does the terminology cross species?
I would so like to use that ;D

    Glad all is well :)

Woohoo Willow is going to have fun! We have been let loose for over a week now and it's fab! I can barely remember what it was like when we were restricted to the garden. She's already a lot more mature from increased public contact. Although every time I take her for a walk through town I get asked if she's a guide dog puppy. She's not that good!

Haha! She already has lots of human contact from taking her shopping with us, but where we live, there aren't many people around at the moment so we won't meet many people on walks. But, the seasonal workers will start arriving in a few weeks, the bars will open and we'll get lots of socialisation opportunities more locally. We also have a playdate organised for tomorrow, yey!

Have a great first walk! I remember the relief of getting Molly out and about after trying to keep her entertained in our small garden.

Well we've been a bit naughty here and I have already taken Bob out a few times for walks... my vet told me it would be OK and I'm sticking with that advice as she is familiar with our area. We've done off lead walking in the woods a few times and Bob's recall has been great. And we've done a bit of on lead walking round our town too and he's hardly pulling at all now. He had his boosters on Monday and I'm guessing he'll be AOK 'officially' from next Monday... I do worry though that I've taken risks... but for us socialisation was so important. Bob has seen so much of the world already and is so cool with it all and such a laid back little boy I think it's been a risk worth taking.

    PLEASE don't slate me!

GOOD LUCK tomorrow with Willow enjoy every moment of your first walk. Take lots of pics..

    Lou x

    Re: Willow's all jabbed up!

Most people here don't even bother with keeping them off the floor at all, if they're even vaccinated. But I know there's parvo around, so I've been super careful. We've had plenty of socialisation, though, just all from the comfort of our arms. She's met millions of people of all shapes and sizes, lots of different animals (cows, horses, sheep, ducks, chickens, geese, other dogs that are vaccinated) and all sorts of vehicles.

The vet said we only needed a couple of days after the boosters, which makes W-Day tomorrow. I can't wait!
