Have had two snakes here tonight. :-\ Thankful that I could get Max and the other dogs inside before one of them spotted the first one! One slithered away (hopefully a long way) and one the neighbours have taken away. Keeping all the animals inside tonight for sure though. As for Max's new friend, I am dogsitting my brother's puppy Oreo for 3 weeks while he's on a cruise. Max loves having her around and they play rough together constantly. I think it will be good for him to have a friend for a bit!
Re: 2 Snakes and Max's new (temporary) friend Glad the dogs didn't get near them. What kind of snakes were they? I'm guessing the poisonous kind. Still, slightly illegal for the neighbour to kill one of them, eh......
Re: 2 Snakes and Max's new (temporary) friend I almost didn't open this post in case there were photos! I have an irrational fear, well terror, of snakes. I'm even scared of slowworms which we get in the garden. I was terrified Molly was going to pick one up this summer. Just don't know how you Aussies cope.
Re: 2 Snakes and Max's new (temporary) friend gosh. I know the wildlife in Australia is wonderful and amazing. It must also be truly terrifying! I'm fine with slow worms though.
Re: 2 Snakes and Max's new (temporary) friend Gosh! I was thinking "snakes" as in "lambies"....wasn't expecting that! Euk! Keep you and your babies safe.
Re: 2 Snakes and Max's new (temporary) friend Just an observation, but we are a bit soft over here, us brits, hardly any dangerous wildlife, not many guns to shoot them with either, I like it that way ! xx
Re: 2 Snakes and Max's new (temporary) friend Yeesh...well maybe they ate a few toads before departing....
Re: 2 Snakes and Max's new (temporary) friend Haha, can only hope so ;D I can assure readers that it is really quite safe here. From where I'm sitting I can't see a single snake.
Re: 2 Snakes and Max's new (temporary) friend I dunno, Rachel, besides the snakes, toads, and poisonous jellyfish, I would have a hard time coping with the various nasty spiders and bugs and other creepy crawlies there. There are times when I am glad for our severe winter temps, to be sure!!

[/quote] But she's fine with 10 types of bear, cougars and wolverine... Cornwall is feeling safer by the minute...
Re: 2 Snakes and Max's new (temporary) friend I'm definitely not brave at all, I'm terrified of snakes. I was safely locked inside with Max but apparently one was a brown snake (highly venomous) and one a 'night tiger' brown tree snake (mild venomous).
Re: 2 Snakes and Max's new (temporary) friend Eeek! How often do you see snakes round your houses? Do you let dogs out into the garden on their own? I guess you have to, sometimes. Rachael, your duck houses must be snake proof?
Re: 2 Snakes and Max's new (temporary) friend We don't have pythons here in Canberra, which often frequent poultry houses, and so far I haven't seen any other snakes in my yard. But it's possible. Snakes aren't interested in birds though - they want the mice that are after the birds' food. If I saw one I'd call a snake catcher to relocate it. So far so good (touch wood!!!).
