Re: Labradors in the service of mankind Although the article talked about assistance dogs it only referred to Guide dogs for the blind. The range of assistance goes way beyond that with charities like Canine Partners http://www.caninepartners.co.uk/ doing great work to help people with all sorts of specific needs such as Multiple Sclerosis - Cerebral Palsy - Muscular Dystrophy - Stroke - Rheumatoid Arthritis - Spinal injuries Friedreich's Ataxia - Spina Bifida - Osteogenesis Imperfecta (brittle bones) - ME - Spinal Muscular Atrophy - Polio and many others too many to mention
Re: Labradors in the service of mankind And hearing dogs for the deaf too, I believe... My father in law and his wife foster guide dog puppies in their home - its amazing the work that goes into training assistance dogs right from day one. Sam.
