Labradors fulfil so many roles in society, this article looks at just a few of those roles. http://www.thelabradorsite.com/aboutlabradors/roles.php If there is a job of work that labradors do that you think we should have included in this article, feel free to comment here.

Although the article talked about assistance dogs it only referred to Guide dogs for the blind. The range of assistance goes way beyond that with charities like Canine Partners http://www.caninepartners.co.uk/ doing great work to help people with all sorts of specific needs such as Multiple Sclerosis - Cerebral Palsy - Muscular Dystrophy - Stroke - Rheumatoid Arthritis - Spinal injuries
Friedreich's Ataxia - Spina Bifida - Osteogenesis Imperfecta (brittle bones) - ME - Spinal Muscular Atrophy - Polio
and many others too many to mention

And hearing dogs for the deaf too, I believe...

My father in law and his wife foster guide dog puppies in their home - its amazing the work that goes into training assistance dogs right from day one.
