Chepi has just gone la la, behaving like a dog on drugs. (She is on 3 types of medication for yet more parisites in her gut).
She has started pacing like a caged lion late in the evening, up and down, waiting by the back door then heading for the kitchen, crying and being really unsettled. She has always been great at bed time so what's this all about. She seems really agitated and acting like she wants something. It's gone midnight and she's crying in her crate - hasn't done that since day 2.
I let her out into the garden but that doesn't solve it, I give her a handful of kibble but that doesn't work.
    She's about 7 months - nearly - is it a hormone thing?
    Any ideas?

Oh, Jane, how worrying for you! No real suggestions, sounds like a vet trip is required. The only time I've had something like that (with our old setter) it turned out to be a gastric torsion :-\ . I hope you both got through the night ok.

It sounds a bit like you're describing a repeating pattern, though. Is it just evenings? I wonder if it's related to her evening meal and if she's still struggling tummy-wise might be getting cramps maybe? How's the poo situation ?

    Sending hugs, keep us posted.x

Thanks for replying. It is only from about 9pm. It only started a few nights ago. I was worried that it could be bloat last night but she wasn't trying to be sick (one of the symptoms). I also wondered if she was coming into season but she's not like it all of the time. It could be the blasted squirrels in the attic again. Well, we'll see what happens today and tonight. She is sleeping on the sofa with her head on my lap at the moment, seemingly quite happy.
The other thing is I caught her eating cat's poo and was really cross with her and I'm not usually. Could I have unsettled her?
Maybe I worry too much :-\

Very odd! Glad she's ok this morning though :) It sounds almost like a colicky baby ;D ;D (My son was dreadful for that...) I don't think it would be the telling of, but I think you're right to remain concerned. Could be hormones. Careful monitoring I think...

    Hi Jane

Poor Chepi and you. I had a very similar experience with Albert when I gave him Drontal worming tablets. Exactly how you described it and it went on all night. The next time it happened again so I knew absolutely it was the Drontal that upsets him. So I give him Milbemax now and he's fine. Just a thought that it could be one of the meds.

    Hope she feels better soon.

Thanks everyone. One of the meds can cause nausea AND she had been chewing a nylabone last night (never again).
She has just spent half an hour thoroughly enjoying running sround the moor, snoozing happily now. I think it's just in the evening. Worry worry worry ::)

I haven't got anything to suggest to you except a check over at the vet Jane.Cexter did used to have a mad period in the evenings when he was Chepi's age....but he didn't cry...we used to call it The Prowl....he would just be prowling round looking for mischief doing things he would never do during the day and mythering to go out all the time.....so it could be something similar to that ? X
