Penny is like a typical Labrador - LOVES her food. We have a fairly set routine to our day so she knows when it's dinner time and starts dancing around and pacing until I have fed her. I've tried to feed her at different times every night so she didn't get like this but she obviously knows what time it is.

On occasion I need to feed her earlier than usual in the evening like if we need to go out and will be out at her normal tea time. So I feed her, and then when normal tea time comes around she's asking for her dinner!!

Is she genuinely hungry, or is it just because she's so set into a routine she expects food at a certain time regardless of if she's already eaten or not? I'm leaning toward it's just the routine thing.... But I have always worried that I'm not feeding her enough, or she's not feeling full after having her meals because she needs so little otherwise she gets overweight very quickly.

Tonight I fed her at 5 o'clock as opposed to the usual 6:30-7:00 and sure enough as soon as 6:30 came around she's dancing around and running back and forth from the kitchen asking for food. She was doing it so much I took pity on her and went and put a small handful of food in her bowl. Sure enough as soon as she finished that she has now settled and curled up on the sofa with me.

Are any of your dogs like this??

Yes I think we have that.
    More in the morning.
If for instance we go swimming early, I would normally not feed her, but she keeps pestering us.
Put even a very small handful in her bowl she gets the message :p

I always thought it was me. Maybe I only dreamt I fed her.

    Oh yes!

Mine have been fed twice when Mr Boogs didn't realise I'd fed them. Did they complain? - no!!

Yes, I've also fed her twice as she has managed to convince me that I didn't feed her.... It's happened on more than one occasion :(

Those big brown eyes have worked more than once when my husband didn't realise I had fed Elsie, was she still hungry ? I doubt it, did she just think she would try it on ? I believe so ;D

Now it's cooler here,I'm giving Dexter a few more little trots round the block....only 15-20 mins but as he gets fed after his big walks he was starting to ask after these 'extended' toilet breaks too.I don't give in and out food on his bowl but after a few mins I will give him a stuffed kong x

The minute Boston looks at my mum (we are staying with my parents at the moment), she tries to feed him! She is constantly saying, 'are you sure he's had dinner? I didn't see you give it to him, shall I give him some?' NO THANK YOU MUM! He is playing her big time with those beautiful eyes ::)

I'm loving these stories -- too funny! I could set my watch by Snowie's asking for his dinner. Amazing -- how does he know?! He also knows exactly when it is time to wake us up for his morning walk or when it is 10am and he MUST go to the park cos all the other dogs are there! Who needs the World Time Clock when you've got Snowie?!

Thankfully, though, he must be a throwback cos he knows exactly when he is full and won't eat another morsel. If I give him too much food (he gets raw food and sometimes it's 400gm, other times 500gm, maybe even 600gm depending on the size of the carcass), he just leaves some behind. He won't even lick his bowl clean!!

But he is always happy to get a treat any time of day! (A bully stick, dried sausage, or such.) Yesterday we had friends over and the kids were having a treat around the pool at around 4pm. Snowie had had a very energetic day so I thought he could do with a treat, too (dinner is at 6pm) so I got him a bully stick. Usually he eats his treat on his bed. But no, he went straight out to the pool to eat his treat with the kids!
