Ok,title post pertains to me :'(,tomorrow we leave on holiday for 2 weeks.......first time leaving our boy....
He is being pet sat in our house by a lovely lady who knows him very well but is a novice dog handler like ourselves.im anticipating/preparing for a big backward step in our training program and obedience and a BIG forward step in bolshy, adolescent,I'm the boss mischief on our return...please experienced members out there tell me I will get it back?...this holiday was booked before Dexter arrived,if I knew then what I would feel now,.we would have invested in the first caravan to EVER be seen in the Middle East and that would be our holidays going forward( husband not in agreement with that for a minute!)I'm gutted to be leaving him and especially at the stage we are at....recall is going really well, proofing his sit ,and his heel work ( off lead or on harness I'm afraid ..... Normal lead is dreadful :( )
I might be a bit quiet in the meantime until 28th when we get back so best wishes to everybody on here ,enjoy your dogs and Thankyou for all the help you have given me since I joined xxx

You might lose a little bit of ground but a couple of days training when you come back will sort that out no problem. Have a super holiday. :D :D

Thankyou both for assurance ,it's just this first time and at such a critical age and stage although our training is only such a basic level I am really trying hard to get what we want from him right.hes a good boy.
After a horrible 6pm socialization walk on the lead ( dont think Dexter was prepared to even acknowledge he was with me!)we have just had a lovely relaxing bedtime off lead walk in the deserted park, perfect recalls...still only at the stage where we recall where looks at us but straight back and touches our hand and constantly looking at us to see where we are so not going to far wrong I don't think ,thanks again bye for now x

Take care and have a lovely holiday. Don't worry, dexter will be fine and as Heidrun says, a couple of days training will bring him back up to scratch. Have fun, and we'll see you later. Karen

He will definitely get all his skillz back! :)

Have a wonderful holiday and relax and enjoy it :) We left our previous dog with friends for some looong holidays - about 6 weeks on a couple of occasions. I did worry initially each time, but he was always right as rain when we got home again :) We did leave Labrador fur wherever we travelled though, somehow....

He'll be fine, don't worry and enjoy your holiday.

Over the last two years we've left Riley several times with the in-laws who love him to bits but don't do much in the way of training. He always remembers his training after a day or so and the odd handful of treats :D
