Our harnesses have just arrived! This is very exciting! I love puppy shopping anyway, but especially when this is something that will give us SO much more peace of mind when we're out for walks in the village. They both fit well, look very smart (I'll take pictures tomorrow) and have plenty of adjustment as they grow. I'm a VERY happy puppy mummy

Of course, they started to bundle and chew each others', so we took them off, but first signs are they don't mind them at all. Just about to try them again for a little walk. [/quote] I've not got them for heel work; I'm getting on pretty well with that for now on their collars, but we had a scare a few days ago where Shadow slipped his collar when scared by a dustbin lorry and nearly ran out in front of it, so I bought these the next day - no way they can slip these. They're back-fastening so not "corrective" like some harnesses and I hope it won't make much difference to their lead work.

[/quote] They will feel a bit different at first so there could be a slight backwards step, but if you carry on as you have been, any difference in behaviour will be very short lived. If you don't want there to be a difference, just insist on proper walking in a harness. I use Charlie's harness when I know he won't be able to walk properly - very exciting circumstances, for example, so he often pulls when in his harness. Even so though, if he is able to walk nicely, and is in his harness, he will. Not quite so good as his equipment that I "save" for perfect walking, but still pretty good.
Re: Harnesses - yey! Bet they look so cute....and you will feel much safer...I still use Dexters for a particular part of desert we use for off lead,I can attach a long line that runs free behind him for those times he thinks 'keep away' with something disgusting he has found is a great game ??? :
Re: Harnesses - yey! Had our first "proper" walk in them this morning. They were absolute angels and it didn't make a difference to their behaviour, walking beautifully to heel (and showing a couple of the other local dogs how it's done - hah I'm so smug when they behave, roll on teenagedom!). Shadow pulled a bit on the last bit back home, but he did that yesterday on the collar, too, so it's not being caused by the harness, and I just need to carry on with not letting him get away with it. Someone we passed said "Oh! She's wearing a coat!" about Willow. Um. No. That would be a weird coat that was designed to just keep the chest warm....

First time on, OH took one look and said "he's wearing a cross-your-heart bra!" Sigh. Boys will be boys. :

[/quote] Yes, we love the K9 harness for Casper, he used to pull like a train, and it helps, but it is not a corrective harness. We used the handle to help with getting him in and out of the car. I do sometimes add a wide slip lead when training heel work, more as a very, very gentle cue so he can feel when I am changing direction in the middle of a field for example.
